Question about Acer Aspire 1414 Notebook
Upon add/removing programs from the C drive Many files located under ( programs not related to lost files.), a portion of files were either deleted or misplaced.
All file were in same Folder on C drive ad this consisted of Microsoft Picture It , diagrams, Microsoft Word documents and Easyshare JPEG and PNG files.
All files were previosly saved in indivual folders and placed into one major folder. Retained for approx 18 months .
After removing a exsiting outdated program (This program was not used or common)
I then found upon opening this other folder on C drive that many sub folders still present did not contain indivual files, all files previously saved were no longer present. The folders are still present however after doing a search via file name, all these files are listed " as moved and unable to locate "
Note: The major folder was not deleted or moved however all files within these folders were moved or somthing and I still cannot locate or recover them.
All programs these files are under are , Microsoft Picture It , Microsoft Word documents and Easyshare . which these programs have not been effected.
There is no reason why this should happen when removing a program or software.
Have you tried a system restore?
It doesn't normally retrieve missing files but as it is files specifically related to a program it may work.
Backup everything you want first, e.g copy my documents etc to an external drive
Start --> All programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore
Click Restore my computer to an earlier date
Select a date in bold before the date when you removed the software
Click Next , next
Leave the pc to restore, power plugged in
You can always undo this restore later
If problems, please post results and I will help
Error messages etc.
