Battery Drain is probably the problem
Best bet?
But a Card reader.
And if you have camera software loaded -unload it
Windows does it better.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Most photo cataloging programs will also recognize your camera if you choose to use the USB connection instead of a card reader.

Have several pictures on the camera but no SD card in it. Cannot get them to transfer to PC or laptop. How can I either put card in and transfer or transfer to PC?

Hello, and thanks for using FixYa.

the camera has a sd card slot, insert a appropriate SD card to the camera, navigate its menu and find COPY TO CARD feature.

after the pictures are on the card, remove the card and connect it to a card reader which you can then connect to a computer.

or use appropriate usb cable to connect camera to the computer, then open "my computer" or computer from either desktop or start menu, then find removeable storage device and pictures inside. That is the same way a card reader would work.

Please let me know if you require further assistance or if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Ekse

If your computer is relatively new and has memory card readers built in just take your SD memory card from the camera and stick it in the reader or go buy one. Most ppl don't use the cable from camera to computer, wastes batteries.

Vivitar

i have done exactly the same as you mate, 2gb SD maxell card, dosent function, however when we where at a family get togther i swaped cards with a mate, so i gave him my 2gb card to put into his camera which wan not a vivitar and gave me his 64mb sd card (cant remeber the make of his) and my vivitar 3720 worked fine, with his card... and my card worked fiine in his camera...

so i think its just that the vivitar cant take upto 2gb... try buying or even swaping your card for a lower memory..

i will be doing this, just havent got round to it.

Hope this helps.
take care.
