My dryer isn't drying my clothes!

It starts off with warm air then turns to cold. If it is the thermostat, where is it located? It is a Crosley Gas Dryer model CDG6000W. It also makes a little rattling noise but then quits.thank you!

Tumbles but does not dry

When you put your wet cloths in the dryer close the door. You should then turn on the dry cycle you wish, not the fluff option as there will be only air and gas dryer will not heat the cloths. Wait 30 ~ seconds after the dryer is turned on and listen for the gas to ignite and begin warming and drying the cloths. If you hear no bump sound like the ignition of the gas, then you have an ignition issue. It will require replacing the ignitor. All the best and good luck. Hope this helped.

Cold air during running checked power and gas still no heat

Gas models have a resetable high limit thermostat. It is a dime sized disc with two wires attatched located near the front side of the gas combustion chamber. There is a pin in the center of it which needs to be pushed in to reset it. It trips when dryer has poor vent conditions. (long and / or restricted air flow in vent)

You have a bad thermostat, flame sensor, thermal fuse, gas valve solenoids, or the high limit thermostat. Below is a video to walk you thru the diagnostic testing and repair.

Have a kenmore model # 110.72822101, where's the thermostat located, my dryer gets hot then cold

The cycling thermostat or the high-limit thermostat may not be the problem but rather the gas valve solenoid coils sitting on top of the gas valve assembly. Disconnect power then verify this condition by bypassing the thermostats. Refer to the image below and locate the thermostats.
jahn27_15.jpg
Note: This is an image of an electric dryer but the thermostat and the thermal cut-off (cut-out) locations are the same.

Disconnect each of the thermostat wires then connect and insulate them properly. Once done, reconnect power and start the dryer. The gas valve solenoid coils are indeed faulty and both need to be replaced if the problem still persists. Click here for the procedure in replacing the solenoid coils.

Gas Valve Solenoid Coils Replacement Procedure

Either or both of the cycling thermostat and the high-limit thermostat are malfunctioning if the dryer continues to heat up with the thermostats bypassed. Disconnect power then reconnect the cycling thermostat wires but keeping the high-limit thermostat bypassed. Reconnect power then start the dryer. The high-limit thermostat is the culprit if the dryer continues to heat up. If not, then the cycling thermostat is the culprit.

Also do the other way; that is reconnecting the high-limit thermostat wires but keeping the cycling thermostat bypassed. The cycling thermostat is the culprit if the dryer continues to heat up. If not, then the high-limit thermostat is the culprit.

Replace the faulty thermostat and it should solve the problem.

if it still quits heating after a minute or so then its either a weak cycling thermostat or moisture sensor thermistor, both located on the blower housing, or the moisture sensor bars located near the door opening on the dryer,or it could be a high limit thermostat thats bad on the burner tube itself

I have a maytag dryer, model # MDG4000BWW. It has...

check the high limit/cycling switch thermostat located on the heat housing ,you will need to remove the front panel to access this, then, bypass the high-limit with a jumper wire and see if the flame stays on longer,if this doesn't help, then check the radiant senser on the tube also they get dirty, you can clean the senser eye or bypass this also and see if its weak,if not then replace the 2 gas coil valves on the gas valve body as these will get weak and shut off the gas supply

Dryer turns, heats, but takes forever to dry a load of clothes

you need to clean out the dryer, you have a block somewhere and if you don't take care of it you'll pop the thermal fuse or a thermostat.you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is and remove the vent line and blow it out,if it's a long run from the back of the dryer to the outside flapper i use a leaf blower to blow out the vent line, make sure the outside duct is open and nothing is blocking the air flow before you blow it.also if it's a gas dryer you could have bad gas coils if the clothes are just warm instead of hot when the load is done, turn the dryer on when it's cold, after it runs for 15 to 30 minutes check to see if the flame is still liting,if it isn't you have bad gas coils located on top of the gas valve, the coils will work until they heat up and then they fail after a while,if i can help with anything else let me know, good luck you should do the clean out once a year anyway so you don't have a fire and so your dryer will run correctly
