I have a brother MFC-3240C 5 in 1 Multi Function and cannot find where I plug the printer in to the computer. Can someone please tell me where the printer port is on this machine. Thank you

On the back of the printer there should be a place to plug in at USB B cable. This is a square whole (check an image search for what USB B looks like). That cable then converts to a standard USB to plug into your computer.
Thumbs Up!

I have a Brother 5 in 1 Multifunction MFC-3240C and wondering where you plug the printer cable in to the machine? Could you please tell me where the printer port on the printer is located. Thank you very...

This printer connects via USB cable and not thru a parallel printer cable. The USB connector is actually inside the machine. Here is a small image of where the connector is and a link to the quick start guide.

How do I hook up the printer to my laptop?

Make sure you have properly installed the printer's driver in your laptop.

Then plug the cable of the printer to your usb port is the printer cable's end is a usb cable.

If you have other clarification, you can ask further.

Usb port?

The unit's USB port is about two inches to the left of the chambers for the yellow and black cartridges.

If you have a Windows PC, see step 9 on page 15 of the Quick Setup Guide. If you have a Mac, see step 7 on page 20 instead.

To view the Quick Setup Guide at the aforementioned link, you will need a PDF viewer such as Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader.

Wasted 4 hours trying to install Brother 3240c and failed!

That is because the telephone line connection you are trying to use is for faxing, not to connect it to the PC.

You need to use the USB connection / wire.

Hi,
The issue you have posted does require little more information in order to isolate the issue to fix it. Information like have you installed the printer driver and connected the printer cable to the system in your system for the printer to communicate, are you getting any error messages when you are trying to scan or print, weather you have used the printer earlier and it was working fine till the recent past or it was just being used for sending faxes only and printing and scanning was not tried earlier, However let me provide you few steps that you cold try to fix the issue.
  1. Click on start point Control Panel and click on it.
  2. In the control panel window click on the icon labeled “System”
  3. Click on the Hardware option at the top and then click on Device manager.
  4. On the device manage page check if you have any devices under “Other Devices option with a YELLOW ! mark, if so right click on the device and left click on uninstall.
  5. Close all the windows and then insert the Driver disk for the Printer in the CD/DVD Disk Drive to install the drivers for the printer.
Note: At this point of Disconnect the printer cable if it is connected to the system tower, and do not connect the cable until the installation wizard prompts you to do so.

If you do not have the Printer driver disk handy then you can download and install the printer driver form the link below:

http://printers.free-driver-download.com/Brother/25079/Brother-MFC-3240C-Printer-&-Scanner-Driver-USB-v.A-Windows-98-ME.html

  1. During the installation the wizard will prompt you to connect the printer USB cable to the system tower, so go ahead and connect it.
  2. Once the installation is finished restart the computer.
Should you require any further assistance regarding the
printer or even require assistance regarding any other
computer related issue in future please feel free to
