I have a similar problem on the same model. The power plug and socket overheated and the pc shut down. Now it wont power up-no lights etc-dead. On investigation the solder connections on the power socket had melted and gone black. I cleaned up the joints and resoldered (neat job).
I checked the surrounding components, diodes resistors and 2 transistors and they seemed ok, but on powering back up I get the power and charge lights only-every thing else is dead. I suspect maybe a voltage controller ic!!!
I am quite knowledgeable with electronics, but I have no experience with surface mount technology or pc electronics, but maybe someone out there is and can shed light on the problem?

Power button repair

Hi Feizal, it could simply be the power button that is faulty, and does not release properly after switching on the PC. Try removing the wires from the power button to the mother board, then simply short out the 2 pins with a screwdriver where the power button plugs in.
If this does not solve your problem, it may be the power supply that is faulty. Let me know if this has solved your problem.

My Medion MIM 2260 will not start when when i push the start button, it was working ok yesterday then just switched itself off now will not start again it did this once before i left it for aproxamatly one...

my guess is that you need to replace some hardware. it is weird that the pc stopped working then started again. if the pc doesn't turn on at all, make sure all wires are plugged in properly and if it still doesn't turn on then its probably the power supply.

Medion MD 96327 - when temp gets to about 92 degrees C - when burning DVD's the laptop shuts down totally. The laptop is on a desk and has plenty of ventilation. Is there anything I can do?

Are you sure you got the temps right? 92 Celsius would be about 198 Fahrenheit. That temp would likely fry your CPU

If it is 92 F then this is likely an overheating issue. Listen to see if you can hear the fan blowing in your laptop. If the fan IS blowing then we can rule THAT out. If not you will have to get it repaired or replaced.

If the fan was blowing try getting a can of compressed air and blow out the venting ports on the Laptop. If doin this still does not resolve your problem there are cooling devices at several retailers for notebooks. I've seen them at Office depot, Best Buy and Circuit city

Hope this helps

Medion notebook under warranty less than a year old it was plugged in and charging yesterday when there was sparks coming from the charger slot, and a few sparks were released. This had given me a bit of...

Sounds like the charge socket is not properly seated on the motherboard. I would call customer service on where you bought the laptop and tell them the situation. But by all mean DO NO continue to use it. You may do damage that they say "Is your fault"

Trust me I have had clients that have "Been there .. done that"

Good luck
