At the start when opening my computer i have the Skype icon and its always gotSkype 1 new message, but i have,nt should i be turning something off

On your keyboard press the Windows key + R. Type msconfig.exe then click "OK. Once msconfig opens click the "Startup" tab, find Skype and uncheck the box beside it, click "Apply" then click "OK".Restart your computer and you`ll no longer see Skype until you manually open the program.
Good luck!

Its my 6days and still i cant connect to my skype..it keeps saying skype cant connect....what should i do??please help me i cant talk to my husband without skype

First of all you need to quit Skype. If it's running you should see it's icon in the Start Bar in the lower right corner. Right-click it and choose Quit.
Then you should go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Windows Firewall (if you are using windows XP) and then go to Exceptions . Search for skype and delete it. After you've done this open Skype again and click Allow when the firewall dialog appears.
Let me know if this worked for you

I cant open my skype when i click on tha desktop

Hi,

Try to open it from "All Programs". The icon you have on the desktop might be corrupted. But if you cannot open it in All Programs as well, you may need to uninstall then reinstall skype.

Hope this helps.

If you do not see a Compaq web cam-utility in

Download the Program you want to talk to your friends with: Windows Live, Skype, MSN, Yahoo, etc.. Install the program of your choice (or the one your friends use) and you will come to a point in the installation where you set up your web-cam.

Do not need skype clogging my computor

To uninstall Skype for Windows:
  1. Close Skype.
    • Right-click the Skype icon in the system tray (at the bottom right of the screen).
    • Choose Quit.
  2. Save your personal information (if required). Your contacts, purchases and account information are stored on our servers, but other personal files such as chat messages, voicemail and snapshots taken during video calls, are only saved on your computer. To keep this personal information, you need to make a copy of it.
    • Vista and 7: Click Start, type run and press Enter.
XP: Click Start and then Run...
    • Type %appdata%\skype and click OK.
    • Copy the Pictures folder and the folder with your Skype name to another location, such as your desktop.
  3. Uninstall Skype.
    • Vista and 7: Click Start, type run and press Enter.
XP: Click Start and then Run...
    • Type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
    • Select Skype from the list, right-click and select Remove or Uninstall.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Message from skype says the my computer is running too slow to make avideo call. intel atom 1.33GHz processor all other programs are closed, using windows7 ultimate

This is true, especially if the video images break up. The best thing to do is to switch off the WEBcam and just use Skype with the mic. The audio will be clearer.

I can't get the skype download to work with my Acer Aspire One, Windows XP netbook.

Exit/Close your current Skype by clicking in system try Skype icon (down near the right corner green spot) and choosing “Quit” from there if needed.
Open firewall, in programs, delete Skype.
Run Skype and allow to connect
This also effects SP2 users who should follow above procedure.
With SP2 firewall.
Disabling external firewall will enable XP firewall by default.
So if you disable any other firewall XP firewall will now block your connections.
So remove Skype from XP firewall program list as well and for more info contact http://tinyurl.com/m7ghqz
