Question about Panasonic PT-52LCX65 44" HDTV

1 Answer

Yellow coloring on Panasonic TV

My TV started with a light yellow tint at the bottom, and is slowly creeping up . It is now 3/4 of the way up. It is now a straight line, but more like short choppy waves. You really notice it when you watch a hockey game, the ice has a yeloow tint.
I changed the lamp, but it made no difference.

I have the exact same issue with my television

  • lstrutt Feb 28, 2009

Yellow tint in full screen areas, not on left or right bars when in wide screen. Very noticable when viewing white images. Repalced bulb but still a problem.

I have exactly the same problem. Also with 2 blue spots about 3/4's of the way up the screen. I just changed the lamp today, with no improvement.

Panasonic rear projection tv has a yellow tint, and it just turned off by itself while the indicator light flashed yellow. What's wrong with it.

The yellow tint can be caused by a faulty lens where the filters are burnt out. Normally this happens when the blue filter burns you get a yellow picture on the screen.

Unfortunately, this can be expensive to repair.

My tv screen when on turns yellow then after a while it will switch back to normal colors what can be wrong with it....

Televisions covered: all Projection with yellow picture, but not Projection TVs with a yellowish tint surrounding objects in a nearly normal picture.

Yellow = red + green
normal picture = red + blue + green (RGB). See illustration.

12_27_2011_5_00_56_am.png

Fig. 1 Additive color mixing in an RGB monitor, or RGB Projection TV.

The circuitry powering your blue output, or the blue light engine itself is starting to fail.

Operating Theory:

The lamp module shines a bright light into the optical unit; there are a series of lens and baffles, and at the top of the light engine, a lens puts the picture into a mirror which is reflected onto the screen; All video and color is processed thru the light engine. Blue most commonly fails first, leaving a yellow picture.

Started with a tennis ball size yellow spot in the bottom of the pictureabout 6 month ago, now the whole screen is yellow tinted except some of the outer edges. Tried adjusting the colors but nothing...

Your red TFT panel is going bad. You would need to have the light engine replaced. Probably about $200 to $300 depending on the shop. Let me know how this works out.

Panasonic pt43lc14 no red color. picture is good. cannot get anything to look normal color after trying to adjust color/tint/picture etc. Have alot of blues and yellow, and brown. seems like no red.

It appears that your light engine is broken, I have the same problem. Have you recently changed the bulb with a non-panasonic part bought on the internet. I did this and think thats what caused the problem. I believe the new bulb burn at a higher temp thus causing damage to the Light engine filters

My tv color is mostly yellow

There are polarized lenses in the light engine. When the blue one goes bad it gives the tv a yellow tint to it. You need to get that replaced.

Here are the settings:

BD 1080p 24hz Output (HDMI): On (this TV can reproduce video at 48hz for accurate 2:2 pulldown)

Take time to get used to the settings, you may think the screen looks dull at first. The truth is most people have way too much contrast on their TVs.
These settings will also work for Cable or Dish hookups, in which case you may change the Noise Reduction option to Medium to reduce signal noise.
