Question about Acer Computers & Internet
Sounds like the touchpad driver you have is not the right one. Having a compatible one and the right one is the difference between XP and Vista. Also, sometimes on some laptops above, or below your touchpad, there should be a button. if you push the button, it should toggle between on or off..Or try to disable the "tap" feature in System Configuration, Peripherals, Touch Pad and be sure to click "Apply".
You can modify the xorg.conf file as follows,
As root edit:
In the touchpad stanza add the following lines...
Option "TapButton" "0"
Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0"
Option "VertScrollDelta" "0"
(if it wasn't already)
Save it, logout, reboot.
Last resort is to search microsoft knowledge base or your pc manufacturer. That seems to be a growing problem in vista but not seen in XP.
