Question about Acer Aspire 5610-4648 Notebook

Acer Crystal Eye Webcam

When I first bought my laptop, the camera worked perfectly fine. Only a couple of weeks later, I noticed that my camera had loads of horizontal lines going across it. I've tried to change the settings and everything but I can't fix the problem. Above is an image (with the thumb over the webcam) and you can see all the lines on it. Does anyone know what this is??? Or could it just be something to do with the light? Please help!!!!

Lines usually means cable related issue, bad connection on the motherboard or bad camera itself. One possibility it's software is that you did a windows update and replaced the original driver with a generic from windows update. If you;

1. Right click my computer on the desktop and go to properties.
2. Select the system tab.
3. Select device manager button.
4. In the list of devices you should have an imaging devices and you want to expand that by hitting the plus next to it.
5. Right click the appropriate device (will say camera, web cam, something) and tell it to roll back the driver.

Either you don't have a previous driver and what I stated in the first paragraph is the problem, OR it will roll back to the previous hardware install and reboot the system to a working web cam.

I can't find acer crystal eye driver for Acer Aspire 4736z

If your webcam is installed in an Acer computer product you may be able to find support on the Acer website. Would need the name and model numb r of your product.

If you have a stand alone Acer webcam you may have to try one of the sites that make drivers available. This one may be one of your best options:

Vista does not include any way to test the camera. You may have QuickPlay in the Programs list - this will test the camera.
You can use MSN messenger and establish a video link or load Skype.
Try this
Willing WebCam Lite from www.willingsoftware.com if you want to test it.

Acer Extensa 5420-5687 Crystal Eye webcam

I had the same problem with the Extensa 5420-5687 as well, I went to the device manager and found my crystal eye webcam (there was a yellow exclaimation point on it) I tried to update the driver software by having it search automatically for the software, but it just said that it was up to date...that still didnt fix my problem. So i tried browsing my computer for the driver. I picked "let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer" I then clicked on "Acer crystal eye webcam" then i hit next, it then installed the updated driver. After that my webcam worked again!
