I have the PowerShot A80 too, and have the same problem: over the last few months I've have had an intermittent problem with red/blue/pink blurry vertical lines obscuring the image on the LCD screen. Sometimes it will take a clear picture, and sometimes the picture comes out blurry. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

    Same problem as above

We have the same problem, but our lines are horizontal.  We can't take new pictures but can view the old ones already on the card.

I also called Canon, and they are emailing me a return/service form.  Depending on the issue, they may fix it for free!  They say that turnaround time is 7-10 days.

    Thanks for the solution!

I tried to take a picture yesterday and I had the exact same problem. Pictures already on the memory card can be viewed but new photos come out blurred, pink with vertical lines. I will have to contact Canon in the New Year. I had a look on the Canon website for a replacement PowerShot but nothing compares so I am glad that my PowerShot A80 may be reparable. Thanks for the post.

Hi, The LCD display doesn't show the view to take picture. I can not take new pictues. Also the previous taken pictures can not be viewed.

I like A80, do anyone have answer to this problem. In short, can not take picture nor i can view previously taken picture and LCD is blank.

    Thanks

We have the same problem, we can see a horizontal line (red/orange) and if I try to take new photo, the picture is same. Time by time this problem disappear and the good photos can be taken. Could you advise holl much cost to you to fix the desribed problem? My camera is already with expired guarantee.

I contacted Canon and they told me that there was a recall on the camera for this problem. They are sending a label so that I can send it back to them to be repaired.
No charge to you for the information although, you would have charged me.

My A80 makes pictures with very thin horizontal line across the top of the picture. in the same series of shots, clouds and snow came out pink-tinted.

Are you looking at the photos on the camera screen or a computer screen? Camera screens can sometimes be the culprit, depending on lighting. Also, make sure you are not shooting into the sun, that can do weird things to an image sensor.
