If it's the old circular honeywell we had one like that for your heat you click the side setting to HEAT and then move the dial aperture to the desired temp. 68-70 degrees. If it's working properly it will make a slight click when it engages your furnace and then cycle it on and off throughout the day. Hop this helps.

FocusPro TH5000 will not cool

Make sure the thermostat is set to "cool" mode. Make sure the thermostat is wired correctly and has fresh batteries in it. Check both the thermostat end and the air handler end of the wires. If All this checks out, the problem is most likely in the air conditioner, not the thermostat.

My round non-programmable digital thermostat doesn't seem to be communicating with the heater very well. I set it to 70 degrees and it clicks off before reaching that temperature. Any ideas?

It sounds like you may have a round Honeywell thermostat. It could be that the temperature pointer you see on the face of the thermostat just needs to be adjusted. The next time your furnace or AC finishes running, remove the face off the thermostat and use a small screwdriver to set the dial so the pointer temp matches the other temperature indicator.

I had a new thermostat installed was not working correctly and was replaced with another. This one is even worse than the other. To get the furnace to come on the house temperature on the thermostat reads...

Hi, even though Honeywell do make good products, I would return this heat only stat and replace it with a heat/cool stat even though you have heat only. If you want to stay with the mechanical style stat, I would go with a white Rodgers 1F56-444 mechanical stat. Inexpensive but good quality. When you wire one with cooling on it, you will see on the new stat terminals such as Rh and Rc, W, G, Y, and some with O and B. The Rc and Rh will have a jumper wire connecting the two. Leave it on! If you have 2 wires maybe a red and white, connect the red to either one of the R terminals as the are connected. The white will go to W for heat. If you have 3 wires and the third is green, it will go to the G terminal. If not, no worries. In cooling the Y is for compressor, G for fan and Heating W for heat. Red is you're 24 volts. Get rid of that stat and get a good one. If you do go with the white Rodgers and you find the temperature does not match the room temperature on the cover of the new stat, you can adjust the needle pointer on the cover of the new stat to the exact room temperature. This is what I recommend to you. It will solve your headaches. There is a small screw slot on the back cover for this adjustment.
Keep me posted on the out come.
Sincerely,

If the thermostat is a digital /programmable you may want to recheck program to see if it has changed or been changed. If thermostat is not digital then it is prbably warn out and need replaced.

Non-deletable schedule in VisionPRO TH8000

The thermostat has a function called "Adaptive Intelligent Recovery".

This feature allows the thermostat to learn how long the furnace and air conditioner take to reach programmed temperature settings, so the temperature is reached at the time you set. For example: Set the Wake time to 6 am, and the temperature to 70°. The heat will come on before 6 am, so the temperature is 70° by the time you wake at 6.

You can turn off this function. Download the installation guide at the next link:
http://customer.honeywell.com/honeywell/ProductInfo.aspx/TH8321U1006
and look for funcion number 0530 Adaptive Intelligent Recovery. In this manual you also find the way to do a reset with the function number 0710.

I hope this solves your problem.
