Question about RCA D52W20 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Samsung dlp hl-r4667w picture/sound keeps freezing and restarting after a few seconds

I'm looking for some advice on what I can do to fix my DLP tv. I have a Samsung HL-R4667W.
The everything comes on and works for about 2-3 seconds, then it freezes and restarts. It does this nonstop until I pull the plug. There is power staying consistently to the lamp. (even when the screen shuts down, the lamp stays on bright) Both fans are also running strong not shutting down during the screen restart.
There is a little blue switch in the back where the lamp goes in and out. I made sure that stays down with some tape. I also pulled the thermostat wire out while the tv was running and it shut down because of that.( I think it tells me that the thermostat is working?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My hl r4667w dlb tv started acting funny last night. It the image would lock up but the sound would keep going. I though it was the cable box but now realize that it is the TV. I'm at the point now where the screen stays locked up or has green and purple bars running down it. The sound continues to work. The TV then stays locked up for about 30 seconds then shuts down only to do it all over again. I can not turn the TV off unless I unplug it.

the TV is about 3 years old.

    any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a 50" Samsung with the same problem. Sometimes it starts fine, but usually it locks up shortly after starting it and you can't turn it off unless you unplug the power. I can't find any help how to fix this problem and of course I am still covered under my Circuit City warranty, except they just went bankrupt! That's my luck!! Has anyone found a solution?

your keeping a part that is warming up and shuts down your shutdown that protects the tv from burning up... cooler... to find this you might need a hair dryer or a can of freeze mist.
I believe the left side is your high-voltage section.
you can also let it warm-up without the fan .. let it shut down and feel parts with set unplugged to see what is running hot.

Bightness Change

It sounds like your lamp is going bad. The lamp part number is listed as "lamp code" on a sticker located on the left side of the set. Use this number to grab a replacement off ebay.
