Question about Kenwood KDC-MP728 CD Player
Right next to the #6 preset button you will see a tiny hole. That is your reset button. Use the tip of an ink pen or something else as small and sturdy as an ink pen tip. Just push it in for about 2 or 3 seconds and your unit will reset back to factory default settings. Please be aware that this will also clear all the preset radio stations and the clock. So you will need to input those again.
A reset may or may not help with your disc loading problem. If you could tell me more detail about the problem I may be able to help. Do the motors run when you put a disc in to be loaded and it just doesn't take it in? When you put a disc in to be laoded, do you hear nothing, no motor running or anything? Or does the display just not move down to the proper place so you can load a disc?
There can be many reasons why a CD player won't load a disc, but the only way to have even a small chance at guessing would be with more detail. It normally takes the ability to look at a unit to determain what is causing it's failure. There is no substitute for having your eyes on it to see what it does and to check the things that need to be checked. Electronic troubleshooting is difficult at best when it is done over the internet without the unit in front of you. I hope you will be patient and bare with me while we figure out your problem, and please do not give me a bad rating without the opportunity to communicate back with you if needed.
I have over 18 years experience repairing Kenwood radios at an authorized Kenwood service center, so I don't think you could find any better help, but it may take a little work on both our parts.
