Question about Sony Ericsson w580i Cellular Phone

Sony w580i when i turn on my sony w580i the screen remains black.all side lights and keypad lights com on.i have tried another lcd screen but to no avail. any ideas ???

    the display is dark all other light are on but i cant see onything on the screen. waht cam i do. the One/Ornage shop say: Software or Hardware error. and this after 6 month. what a pitty. what can i do?

    right were do i start firstly i am pest when it comes to taking mobiles apart so i learn by trial n error i had the same problem earlier i even went as far as buying a 580i 4 the bits. so i started removing the lcd but just thought id try pressing the ribbon cable connector a there it was my screen was back it has to be well pushed down, and cos the lcd is a bit awkward to put back it must move, the only other thing is a splice in the cable does the screen still power up but remain blank . hope i helped a likkle bit.

There are some layers between the LCD screen and the Back light. It seems there are some remaining liquid in that layer. Try to remove the LCD carefully and clean the layer which is between the LCD glass and the Backlight.

Hey, I have a Sony Ericsson W580i, i dropped it on the floor the other day and now when i turn it on, its just a black screen, can i do anything to solve the problem? Thanks.


It's possible the lcd screen connection came loose. Try opening it up and re-attaching the lcd screen cable. There are tutorials on youtube that show you how to remove the lcd screen and re-install it.

580i dosen't start


More than likely you will need to replace the LCD screen. The backlight may have burned out making it blank or it the LCD connector may have come loose.

A new LCD screen runs about 15 dollars shipped from ebay2.gif.

The W580i LCD is easy, easy to replace. Probably one of the easiest I have ever done.

More than likely you will need to replace the LCD screen. This is the start of the screen going bad. If you have it under warranty still, try to get it replaced.

If not, a new LCD screen runs about 15 dollars shipped from ebay2.gif.

The LCD on the Sony W580i is snap to replace.

You need to replace the LCD as you've already taken it apart you should be able to replace the lcd yourself

Screen of cell is not turning on or anything but keyboard is


The backlight may have burned out making it blank or it the LCD connector may have come loose.

You can take it apart and try to reseat the connector. If that fails to fix it then you will need to replace the LCD screen. A new LCD screen runs about 15 dollars shipped from and it is a pretty easy replacement.

My w580i went into the bath and the screen has blackened

Hi,

This is most probably a software/firmware issue with the phone. Try updating the software with the Sony Ericsson update service.
