Calypso washer 22066 locks up and beeps

Our Calypso washer starts beeping and the control panel gets locked up. It is displaying lights: Wool/Silk, Auto Temp Control, Cold/Cold, Minimum, and "6" in the minutes remaining space. Sometime I can clear the display, push the cycle I want and push start. It will work fine except it beeps all throughout the cycle. Other times, I can't get it off of the frozen display. It works only about 25% of the time. Any ideas what is wrong with it?

I had the same problem. My Calypso has had a lot of problems..will never buy again.

I did sort of fix the problem and it's been working great so far. The key is to get out of the 'normal' cycle and never go back into it! After a game of constantly pushing buttons inbetween cycles and never knowing what combination was actually getting me 'unstuck', I figured out one day that everytime I ran a normal cycle, the machine messed up from that point on. Now, I only hit the 'whites' button and then change the water temperature accordingly, add an extra spin, soak, whatever I need. I have done this continually for several weeks and no longer get stuck in a cycle OR get the annoying beeps all night. So far, so good. I realize that I'm not getting the use that I paid for in this piece of ****, but at least I can do laundry. STAY AWAY FROM THE NORMAL CYCLE BUTTON!

You probably have hoses and sump pump plugged/jammed by not enough to the machine from operating, my machine leaked prior to cleaning out all the hoses and sump pump

SOURCE: Damaging clothes

Put garments in a laundry mesh bag or pillow case...silk will snag on even the smallest imperfections in the drum. Then do the extra gentle wash the other person suggested. Other wise always hand wash in very cool water and mild soap.NEVER use a bio, ever!

Code in digital display does not have a E in front of it

Please let me know if you can get a number after this - if so what number shows up?

Model differences:
• Better models have a digital readout display
• Good models do not have a digital readout display
In the Better Models line, the failure codes will appear in the display as an E followed by two numbers, a number and a letter
or two letters. The control will beep and the Door Lock, Wash, Rinse, Final Spin and Control indicator lights will flash.
Example: E14. To stop the flashing and beeping, the customer may touch the Pause Cancel button. The error code remains
stored in the control but once the problem is corrected, it does not effect the operation of the washer. If the failure is something
that the customer can correct (such as the water faucets being turned off), the washer will operate normally the next time it is
started.
In the Good Models line, the control signals the failure code by flashing the five indicator lights of Door Lock, Wash, Rinse,
Final Spin and Control for the first number or letter after the E and the Start indicator light for the second number or letter
after the E. When a failure occurs, the washer stops or pauses and the control beeps and flashes the five indicator lights to tell
the customer that a failure has occurred. To stop the flashing and beeping, the customer may touch the Pause Cancel button.
The error code remains stored in the control but once the problem is corrected, it does not effect the operation of the washer.
If the failure is something that the customer can correct (such as the water faucets being turned off), the washer will operate
normally the next time it is started.
To recall an error code,
• Wake the machine by pressing any button
• Wait 5 seconds
• Press and hold the Start and Pause Cancel buttons simultaneously
• All LEDs will go blank and after a few seconds the control will signal the stored code using audible beeps and blinking
LEDs. The control will repeatedly signal the code, as long as the Start and Pause Cancel buttons are pressed.
A two-second pause between repeats affords you the ability to make accurate counts to identify the correct error codes.
Please Note the following...... on a small number of washers with serial number prefix XC4,
if the previous procedure does not perform as specified, follow the option below:
• Follow all previous steps but instead of pressing Start and Pause Cancel buttons,
press and hold Options and Pause Cancel buttons.
If the washer is a Better Model, the error code will appear in the display. Troubleshoot problem by using charts on the
following pages.
If the washer is a Good Model, the five indicator lights of Door Lock, Wash, Rinse, Final Spin and Control will flash the
number of times for the first digit of the code and the Start indicator light will flash the number of times for the second digit.
Take
separate counts of each indicator light, then repeat to confirm in order to be accurate in identifying the proper error code.
The code is obtained by counting the number of times the lights flash. Example E24: The five indicator lights would flash twice
indicating the 2 and the START indicator light will flash four times indicating the 4. The five indicator lights and the START
indicator light start flashing at the same time.
The control will pause for 2 seconds, then repeat the code as long as the two buttons are pressed and held.
Note: A letter appearing in the code stands for a number higher than nine:
A = 10 B = 11 C = 12 D = 13 E = 14 F = 15
Example Code F1: the first digit would be 15 and the second digit would be 1. If this code would appear on a washer in the
Good model line, the five indicator lights would blink fifteen times and the START indicator light would blink once.

Error code FL flashes and my calypso washer keeps beeping. Won't start just shows the code.

FL error - Flood condition

"FL" flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lock condition in order for "FL" to be displayed.

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit. Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

You coudl se this manual: Service_Manual_PDF

Hope this helps.

Control board malfunctioning.

You can try tripping the breaker a half dozen times or so, or else leave it unplugged/without power for a couple days. Once it is plugged back in you may have to leave it overnight and then try it, but that almost always revives it. I notice the problem when I don't use the washer/dryer once a week or don't push any buttons during that time to activate it in some way. Problem seems to occur more frequently in the winter when house is cooler.

Is the panel lock on??
Hold down the power and delay start button at the same time. In about 3-4 seconds a beep will occur and the red key lock will turn off.

If this reset does not work - unplug for 15 minutes and re-try.

If unplugging for 15 minutes does not reset the controller -
your Main Controller board or touchpad has Failed.

Upon inspection you may have a visible sign one or the other has a burned component on it.

CLICK HERE to see the controller board.

The touchpanel is available in white, graphite, or bisque. CLICK HERE

The Touchpanel is the culprit on 95% of these machines in my experience.

I believe (hard to remember without having the machine right in front of me) there is a fuse you should check on the Motor Controller board that may have popped when the touchpad started acting up too.

Choose wisely - grasshopper - as purchasing and installing the Touch panel will equate to almost 1/2 of a new appliance with a warranty :D

My Whirlpool duet washer lights flash/beep

probably your door then, look at the door itself, at the latch is it broken? should form a complete square hole with four sides. if broken some part is probably inside lock asm. if complete, look at lock and determine if its in the lock position with door open, a arm will be up preventing the latch from going in. replace as necessary. Old duets (red lights) use standard lock asm same as GE and samsung. New duets (green lights) use whirlpool/new maytag unique asm. New locks come in two interchageable models, German (made in china) and Mexican, Mexican model is more troublesome, get german.
If lights flash during a cycle or other time, its giving a code, note the F code displayed
