Question about Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer

All Lights are on Steady!!

Just suddenly one day the printer quit and all the lights stay on steady(Toner,Drum,Paper & Ready). The lights do not flash all 4 are steady. Any hints? Tried removing paper tray, toner, resetting the drivers. Help!! Thanks all...

Did you check the back to see if there is a paper stuck. If nothing is stuck then shut it off and restart it. I have lots of luck with this printer. I work at 2 schools and have 62 of these to keep in working order. I have only had 1 that had to be sent in for repairs.

the toner is not inserted properly and is not detected by the system .pls try to re insert the toner this time make sure that it is inserted properly and the motor winds it up then closer the cover and locks it.this will till the system that toner is loaded and is ready to print..

The exclamation and the toner lights are steady on yellow and i can't print

needs pcon or toner replacing exausted hence toner light and ! mark and will not print por before changing or it will stay the same

I have a Brother HL - 2040 printer. It has been turned off. Having switched it back on I now have the Toner, drum and paper lamps on and it hasn't warmed up. Does this mean I need to purchase a new...

If all the LED's are flashing and continue to flash for more than 10 minutes with the unit powered up, it needs to be serviced or replaced. (That is toner, drum, paper and the Ready light all blinking -> critical error found in self-test.) If the Ready light is off and the rest of the lights are steady, the toner is out, the corona wire needs cleaning and the paper tray either is empty or not picking up the paper.

1. Turn the printer off, and turn it on again.
2. Force a calibration by selecting CALIBRATE NOW from the Print Quality Menu.

1. Press example (Select) to enter the MENUS.
2. Press example (Down Arrow) to highlight CONFIGURE DEVICE.
3. Press example (Select) to select CONFIGURE DEVICE.
4. Press example (Down Arrow) to highlight PRINT QUALITY.
5. Press example (Select) to select PRINT QUALITY.
6. Press example (Down Arrow) to highlight CALIBRATE NOW.
7. Press example (Select) to select CALIBRATE NOW.
8. Wait for the printer to calibrate.
3. Perform a cold reset on the printer.

1. Turn the printer on.
2. Watch the control panel.
3. When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green example (Select) button.
4. Continue holding the green example (Select) button until the Ready, Data, and Attention lights flash once, and then stay on steady.
5. Release the check button when the Ready, Data, and Attention light are on steady. The control panel will display SELECT LANGUAGE.
6. Press example (Down Arrow) button once. The control panel will display COLD RESET.
7. Press example (Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence.

If this issue persists, contact an HP-authorized service or support provider. ( 1-800-474-6836 )
If the Toner is newly purchased and it is because of faulty toner, HP will replace it for no charges.

The top light of the two is flashing green/red back and forth very fast and the light on the bottom is a solid red. how do I fix this so that way it will work normally

The steady lower light indicates the unit needs a new toner cartridge, MLT-D108S. Did you previously see this light blinking or blinking rapidly? (Those indicate the toner being low.) Replace the cartridge and check for any other error lights. Turn off the machine and let it cool. Then open the front cover and pull the old toner cartridge. Open the package with the new cartridge, remove the packing tape and paper that protects the cartridge and gently shake it (avoid touching the blue or green parts of the OPC drum). Press the cartridge into the slot until it is fully seated. Close the front cover.

The green/red blinking power light is not one I'm seen before. The printer indicates a non-toner failure (open cover, no paper, LSU failure, etc.) with a steady red light.

If your printer have no paper jam inside and paper tray has paper in it, then you need to replace toner cartridge.

Dell 1710 printer issue. Can anyone help??? Toner and Drum light steady along with the (!) light also steady. According to the manual the drum needs to be replaced. I have replaced the drum and the error...

Did you reset the drum count? You can do this by holding the cancel button until all lights flash clearing the drum count. This should fix the issue.

E120 won't print. Orange toner light is on - but the toner is nearly new ...

This problem is caused by an imitated toner............ All you need to do is change it to the old cartridge and see if the light will not be stable. Well the solution i guess is simple............. just go to get a new original toner and it should work well. Hope this helps.
