For some reason, my Lacie stop powering on. I don't hear anything. I don't hear the drive power on, nothing.
If you have a plug in power supply check to make sure it tests with the correct voltage, if okay! the problem is in the the internal circuitry of the hard drive and not built for service in mind.
Testimonial: "I think it is the power supply because it does not make a sound when I plug it in the wall and press the on/off button. Yes, it does have a power adapter and a wall receptical. Can I purchase any power supply cord as long as it meets the specifications or do I have to order it directly from Lacie?"
Hi John,
Not sure I understand your response. Could it be that the power cord is dead? Does it have to be the harddrive?
Does the Hard Drive have it's power source? a power adapter that plugs into the wall receptical and the other cable that plugs into the hardware to power it, chances are it is the power supply that is the problem
It would be better to replace the power adapter through Lacie that way there is no chance of error. "Thank you and good luck"

SOURCE: LaCie 1 TB Hard drive won't boot
I lave lots and lots of experience with LaCie Drives (I have 6 of the 2TB models). Every, every, every time a drive fails or runs slowly, it is the power supply. I have now replaced 5. They run very hot (so does the drive), and fail pretty often. It looks like the voltage drops just a smidge, and access times seem to increase, i.e., the drive "runs slow". Then it won't boot at all, and the blue light keeps blinking. Fortunately LaCie has replacement power supplies in the store. Buy a couple extra. I am married to the LaCie drives now, or I would probably switch brands. I kind of guess that they know about this because I contacted the help desk, and he wasn't surprised. Maxtor has a nice drive, and the Calvary drive is $150 cheaper. A drive is a drive I guess. By the way, if anyone is listening, how about building a QUIET, COOL drive with and INTERNAL POWER SUPPLY? GOT IT? All the cords and power supply bricks make me crazy. It might be nice to see a stackable drive where the top of one drive mates to the bottom of another, carrying network info as well as power to the drive above. Hint, hint. We all are building systems with ungodly amounts of storage. Too bad the manufacturers aren't building drives with the durability we need.
SOURCE: lacie 1 tb hard drive clicks and no recognition
Hi wes_unruh. Unfortunately that "click" , known as the click of death, can mean many things. It could be a head, System Area, scratched platters, etc. First, remove the hard drive from its casing. Then connect the hard drive internally to a computer. You might still get the click. Try a diferent angle and try many many times. Check the logic board for any signs of damage. Please DO NOT start swapping parts because there´s aligment, firmware issues and you can make things worse if you need to do Data Recovery. If you had important informacion, you need to take it to a data recovery company such as Ontrack or ADS, because they have the right equipment such as Deepstar, PCI3000 in order to fully retrieve your files. IT IS an expensive process. I hope this helps. Please do not forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our free support today. Thank you :D
