Turn key 4x to build pressure, on 4th try complete Start seq.

You should have the fuel system tested , fuel pump pressure an flow test . an static fuel pressure . There is a check valve in the fuel line inside the fuel pump module , this could be bad . You could try just turning the key to run, not start 4 or 5 times to see if this adverts this problem . This will build fuel pressure up , you see when you turn the key on the PCM/ECM -engine computer energizes the fuel pump for two seconds building fuel pressure .

residual fuel pressure may be weak--have it testd--or try to turn ignition lock on and off 3 times to build pressure for the time being--a fuse may have blown or the coil-plug wires-ignition module cud hav issues--

You may need someone to help with this, or not.Turn off the radio and any accessory that will interfere with hearing the fuel pump. Turn the key to the on position,the fuel pump should turn on for a couple of seconds to build fuel pressure, and then the pump will shut off. Turn key off. Turn the key on, the pump will do the turn on and off again. Do this about 5 times. Do not turn to the start position until after the 5 times of building the fuel pressure up in the lines. After the 5th time, turn the key to start the vehicle. If the vehicle starts, then you're loosing fuel pressure when it's not running. Most cars have about 60 psi of fuel pressure. You'll need a fuel pressure meter to check it.

You may be right on your hunch.
The fuel pump gets power from the pump relay for 3 seconds when you turn the key on, then no power until the engine starts. If the fuel pressure is low it could take several trys to get the pressure up to normal and the engine start.
A mechanic would check the pump relay and the fuel pressure with a gauge before and after cranking the engine.

Left to right fuel pump relay horn relayfog lamp relay There is also a 4th one that isn't pluged into the fuse block but has a separate wire connecter for the i/p instrement panal lighting There are all the same interchangeable And don't be fooled if your problem is with the fuel system because the system runs on a split circuit from fuse # 4 to the oil pressure sending unit as well to the fuel relay . So even if the fuel relay was burnt out it would still start as sone as the oil pressure got high enough to trip the switch in it . I tjust has to crank for a longer time to build up the pressure

I would check to see if you are losing pressure. You should have constant pressure in the system at all times. A quick thing you may want to try is when you first go to start it don't. Just turn the key to the on position without turning the engine over for about 5 seconds. Then turn the key off. Turn the key back to just the on position again. Turn the key off. then try and start it. Turning the key to just the on position will engage your fuel pump relay for about 5 seconds which in turn will build up fuel pressure. If it starts after you do this the first time you may be losing pressure. You can always put a pressure tester on there and check the prssure while it's not running to see if you lose prssure that way. It should have pressure even when it's not running at all times. There isn't a pressure switch to replace. You need a new fuel pump because it isnt holding fuel pressure. There is a check valve in the pump that has gone bad. When you cycle the key the pump runs for 2 seconds priming the system, this is why it starts after you do this. I hope this helped.

A common problem is if the fuel pressure regulator leaks internally. This causes fuel pressure to bleed down over time and makes it hard to start the vehicle if it has been sitting for usually more than a few hours. Sounds like that could be what you are dealing with.

Check fuel pressure. try turning the key on and off 3 or 4 times, this will build up pressure to get it started, but probably wont stay running. Also your fuel filter could be completely clogged up, seen this a few times.

u can try replacing the relay. when u turn the key to the position right before starting position which is the position it would be in when u start a car and let off key because car started, well this is somting to try turn the key to position right before starting position have sombody listing down by fuel tank and see if tey can hear pump come on, try a couple of times to make sure they can hear, also the pump will only come on for about 2 seconds each time u put the key in that position, if u do hear the pump come on each time u do that that means pump is working if so u need to build up fuel pressure which could b anywhere from 20 to 60 pressure, to build up pressure u need to turn the key to same position turn key off turn key back to that position then off and do it like 50 times each time u do that the pump is on for only 2 seconds only building a half to one pound of pressure thats why u haft to turn key somany times to build it back up, if u try that and car keeps almost starting but doesent then u need to build up a little more pressure. NOTE make sure u have gas, also most electric fuel pumps will go out when turned on dry
