I had/have same machine and when I bought it, I read book frnt to back, and all over, its only expandable to 1gb ram. I know it haas four slots but when I consumer reports.com'd it back in the day that was the 1 low mark it got, only expandable to 1gb. might wanna buy smaller compatible sticks. GOOD LUCK! Great machine bought mine Jan 05 never had a problem that I didn't cause! I'm not giiving up on mine yet, got new one other day as an impulse buy, I do miss a lot about my emachine!

Hello, I was looking to upgrade the ram in my old dell 5150. The specs say you can use a Max of 4 1 gig sticks yet these specs where released prior to windows 7 ultimate which uses far more ram. What are...

Check www.crucial.com. Use the downloadable program to analyze your system or use the interactive menu system to explore your options.

Check online forums using google searches for terms like 'dell 5150 memory upgrade'. Sometimes, the maximum in the manual is not the real maximum. My Dimension 1000 laptop accepted a certain 1 GB card when the manual said the max was 256MB. Still running it after nearly ten years. The laptop was **** with 512MB (256 built-in and 256 add-on card) but the gf uses it every day.

Gateway desktop fx 7026 memory issue, has 4 slots came with( 2 )2 gb sticks = 4 gigs it came with. when i add 2 extra gig it doesnt recognize.

the specs i read says 8 gig is the max. here is what it says for RAM
RAM
  • Installed Size 4.0 GB / 8.0 GB (max)
  • Technology DDR2 SDRAM
  • Memory Speed 667.0 MHz
  • Form Factor DIMM 240-pin
  • Features Dual channel memory architecture
  • Configuration Features 2 x 2 GB

check to make sure you have added the right type of memory. also look at your user manual. it should tell you where and how to place the added sticks. sometimes they have to be added in pairs or have to be in specific slots. also if you dont have the manual it is on the gateway site. you should type in your model and serial number and get all the info you need.

I have an emachine T5026. Emachine tech swears this machine only supports pc2700 ram but the stickers on the factory installed ram says pc3200 256mb x 2 so i bought 2 memory masters pc3200 1gb x 2 sticks....

PC3200 is backwards compatible with PC2700. Meaning you can install PC3200 into your motherboard but it won't run any faster than would PC2700, however it will not cause any harm and should work fine.

Emachine's would say you need PC2700 most likely because they're trying to sell you some.

One of your new memory modules or the memory slots on your computer may be defective. I recommend installing a single stick of memory and booting your system. If it is successful then shut it down, disconnect the power and install another stick. Boot again and keep doing so and by process of elimination identify the bad memory stick or the bad memory slot.

This is the "likely" cause and isn't too uncommon.

Good luck.

I ADDED NEW MEMORY AND THE COMPUTER WONT BOOT I JUST KEEPS RESETING AND DOING THE SAME THINGHOW CAN I FIX THIS.

There are several things that could be wrong here: 1. You didnt install the memory correctly, open it back up and remove the memory sticks and reinstall them 2. Try putting only one memory stick at a time, maybe one memory slot is bad. 3. One of your memory sticks could be defective 4. You got the wrong memory sticks for your computer and they are incompatible with your pc, contact your computer manufacture to find out the exact memory sticks you need.
Please leave me a good rating.
