Question about Denon AVR-75

Open Question

No power This reciever was my dad's, he passed it on to me. It looks like it was dropped or mishandled by the small dent in the back panel. There is no power flowing through the unit, I took the top and back cover off and nothing was visibly broken and the two fuses were intact. Any info or suggestions would greatly be appreciated so i can listen to some good tunes. :) Thanks.

My powered subwoofer no longer works through the receiver

if you have your front and centers set to 'small' you want your Bass out to be subwoofer only, and the rca jack labeled 'sub out' is the only place to connect your sub to if you want to control the frequencies with your reciever. I dont know the brand of your sub, or the inputs on the back of it to advise you where to connect, but it sounds like it worked for you at one time, but suddenly it does not

Start by checking the fuse, take the cover off the reciever and look for a small glass fuse attached to the board. If it's blown replace it.

Speaker compatibility ( Just got this new reciever with 120 volts power requirement of the receiver, but in the philippines voltage standard supply is 220. can i use 110 voltage supply instead? and I dnt...

The most likely answer is no. Unless the power transformer is of the multi tap type and has a voltage selector window on the back panel... Most speakers today have an impedance of 8 ohms. The impedance is all you need to worry about when matching speakers. You can fit 8 ohm speakers to a 4 ohm system, but you cannot fit 4 ohm speakers to an 8 ohm system. It would overload your oputput stages and cause them to fail. It's best to match 4 ohm with 4 ohm, 8 ohm with 8 ohms.etc.

Let me be more specific on our problem. We installed the reciever according to directions. The 2 questions are: first, we have Dish Network. Isn't it possible to watch tv with the Yamaha reciever off with...

Look towards the back of the manual. You go into setup. Choose HDMI. Then there is another setting that you have to activate. The receiver must be set to the HDMI input that you want, before the receiver is turned off. I just installed my receiver last night and followed that procedure. Works great.

120v plug in's on the back of my rx-v2400 will not send power to my mono block amps.

those are fused internally and made to power small items.the unswitched are constant power and the switched goes on and off with the power on the have hooked it up to something that draws way to much power and more than likely blew the fuses.check the back by the sockets, they are rarely over 250 watts max.

Yamaha rx-v461 not working

you have a faulty circuit somewhere, whether its in speaker wiring, or power source, i dont know, but your reciever has an automatic circuit breaker in it for protection, and a faulty circuit will trip it, i would assume it is a power source problem since it wont turn back on, check wiring, plugs and look around, and smell for burnt, or hot components.

Need unlock code for sony str-dg520 5.1

The HDMI inputs are pass through inputs only. The reciever cannot recieve any sound signals through the HDMI's. The reciever acts as a selector switch for the HDMI inputs only. Whatever input you have selected on the reciever is the one that is being sent through the output to your TV. The "unlock" display shows when there is no sound signal sent to the reciever. There is no code to unlock. This is the reciever's way of telling you that there is no sound being sent to it from that input. Since there is no sound being processed from the HDMI's, you need to hook up an additional audio cable from the device to the reciever (preferrably an optical cable). When the reciever recieves an audio signal, it will then "unlock". I know it is confusing. I had to look into this problem myself, so I'm happy to help. Higher end recievers will actually recieve and process sound signals from the HDMI's. When I bought this one I thought it was going to do the same. That's what I got for trying to save a couple bucks on the cheeper model! Although it is still a good reciever.

Technics SA-GX490 reciever

Disconnect receiver from power and open the unit. Localize fuse that is placed on small PCB between main transformer "big one" and rear panel.Fuse's amperage is 1.6 A .I'm quite confident that fuse is gone.If so, replace it with the one of same amperage and try unit.
My unit has done exactly the same to me with no reason.

Yamaha reciever will not power on

If the receiver is completely dead, the problem could be as simple as a blown fuse. If there is no visible fuse holder on the back panel, you'll need to remove the cover. There should be a circuit board near the rear of the chassis where the line cord attaches. You should see a small glass fuse held by clips on the circuit board. Visually inspect it for a break in the small wire inside. Alternately, check it with an ohm meter. If the fuse is blown, replace it with the same amperage fuse rated for 250 volts. (The amperage is engraved on one of the metal ends i.e 0.5A). Before replacing the fuse, do a visual inspection of the other components on the circuit board looking for any signs of burning or overheating The over voltage may have damaged other components, in which case you'll need to take it in for service or scrap it. Most Yamahas have a separate standby supply. If yours has this, chances are pretty good the damage is limited to this area. If the main supply is damaged, it may not be worth fixing.
