Dsc-P52 lens cover sticking

You need to go in and physically open the lens cover.
1. take out batteries 2. remove memory card + the small phillips screw.
3. remove the 3 remaining exterior screws. carefully with a small flat tip screwdriver pry the plastic halves slowly. eventually they will come apart. 4. at the bottom remove the small ribbon cable. 5. disconnect the mini motor wire, black and red. 6. unscrew the motor drive for the lens cover and then open the lens. 7. purchase a new lens cover motor. 8. If your screen still says turn off , then press menu and delete some files. good luck ! Work Slowly and carefully and ground your hands to a pipe somewhere before working on the unit. the static electricity could ruin the circuits !

It's obviously a switch problem, not a ribbon (which controls the lcd screen) problem. Start doing your research to find that "perfect" camera. Read all the reviews to see what actual owners think in addition to the experts. can "limp along" until you get tired of that.

Have you tried to take photos & then use the USB cable to download those trial photos? or take test photos and then swap your SD card into another SD card camera?
The rear screen has all its electrics passing through a flat ribbon connector, as this is the only link to the main body of the camera. This ribbon folds over itself at 45 degrees within the case when the camera is assembled.
This fold is OK until the camera is compressed accidently, when that fold in the ribbon may become a crease, and then one or more of the connections within the ribbon may fail at the crease, and while camera works otherwise, you have then lost function of the rear screen.
Take some test photos & if they download OK, I'd suspect this ribbon connector is the problem. Camera Good, Screen not working.
I currently have this problem with my R1v & have yet to see if a replacement ribbon connector is available from a Repair facility, so my help may only give you insight, without end-solution.

My cybershot camera has no display only display white screen

I fixed the camera myself as follows:

1. Hold camera firmly in left hand
2. Smartly rap front of camera with knuckles of right hand on the "Cyber-shot" logo.

It worked, now the LCD is working again for free.

How to replace lcd screen? where to buy?

It's probably cheapest to buy a broken "donor" camera off ebay etc. LZ7 is a fairly popular camera and you're eventually bound to find one with e.g. broken lens-which you could scavenge for replacement LCD.
Swapping LCD on LZ7 is relatively easy-undo the screws holding the back cover (make note which screw goes where as they are not the same), then carefully lift the cover a bit just to see two ribbon cables for the LCD. Disconnect both ribbon cables by carefully prying the "black bits" on the connectors open and sliding the ribbon cables out(Not the best description but it should be obvious once you see them). Once you separate the back cover, remove the screen itself by undoing the catches which hold it onto the case.
Hope this helps-
Good luck,

Cracked screen sony dsc-w50

Go to eBay or somewhere similar where you can buy a LCD screen for your Sony-W50 without having to swing by the bank and take out a loan.
Next, assuming you now have the LCD display, open the camera by removing the screws on side and bottom. Open camera carefully. You will obviously see the LCD display. It will be connected to the PCB with a ribbon cable. That ribbon cable will go to a header. Be very careful when releasing the ribbon cable header because it is very easy to damage the flimsy connector.
New LCD should plug in directly like to old one. Do your self a favor and insure the unit power up and the display is not garbled. You can get a garbled display if the ribbon cable into the header is not seated properly. Once you have observed a clean display, reassemble the camera and have fun. * * * * * * * * *C A U T I O N * * * * * * * * *  BE AWARE OF THE HIGH VOLTAGE ON THE FLASH CAPACITOR. Blank screen

You can open the camera and check to see if the LCD ribbon cable is still connected to the main board. If it was dropped they can become dislodged. There are two cables the smaller one is the most sensitive to coming loose. When disconnecting and reconnecting the ribbon cables, make sure you are careful while lifting the tabs that hold the ribbon cables in place they are hinged and will lift up and the ribbon cable will slide out. Note the large ribbon cable feeds through the camera to the front main board. Hope this helps

I have a Panasonic PVGS19 Mini DV Camcorder. The problem is the flip screen. Will not work when fully open. There is a picture when it is opened at about 1/4 of the way. Also, when opened and flipped...

There is a small flat ribbon cable between the camera and the LCD display that probably has a small crack in it. Move the cable the right way and it works. The cable neds to be replaced. This is NOT a repair to be done by anyone without prior repair experience as there are too many cables and connectors that can be damaged easily.

The repair shouldn't be too much as the hinge with the cables (part number LSXY0764) is only $17.14. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Stuck on movie standby

The ribbon cable for the top switches has come loose.Undo the four screws holding the LCD screen (two are special--I used the corner of a small flat screwdiver), then gently prise the camera apart and try not to dissconnect the ribbon cable for the menu buttons --it's a pain to get back on again.
Gently ease the ribbon cable for the top switches further into the socket and all shout be well---if it is hard to move flip open the black locking flap on the socket
