Yamaha HTR 5950 White Noise

We had this home theatre system installed by the Geek Squad a few weeks ago and we hear a constant, annoying white noiser in the background. I purchased a good power bar but the noise is still there and more so on some settings than others. Any answers and help is appreciated.

This is a tough one, when you had it installed was the noise present, if so! I would call the Geek Squard back to home territory and have them do the job right "free of charge" If this showed up later, there are any number of possibilities, cable issues to a problem in the entertainment equipment. If you have spare cables sub them out one at a time in a effect to find the source

Just a thought, bypass the power bar you purchased, "amp only"

SOURCE: Yamaha HTR-6130 Front right and left speakers with no sound

As simple as this sounds, try hitting the speaker a/b button on the front of the unit, next to the headphone jack. I had the same problem, and was about to package the whole thing back up and go back to Best Buy when I hit this button and then the audio test worked.

Printer driver wont install. been to best buy 3 x

first off, What printer do you have? How are you connecting, USB, network (wired or wireless). I have been answering questions on this board for years and it still amazes me how people expect to get an answer without providing any relevant details on their problem. As for geek squad, flip a coin, you might get someone who knows what they ar talking about, you may wind up talking to the home theatre guy, who is not going to admit he knows nothing about printers. I have 15+ years as an HP and Lexmark certified technician and can help you if you give me some details.

Sony strdg720 problem

Try turning off any surround mode so all you have working is the 2 front speakers. If the soundgoes away, the problem is in the digital surround processing and you are hearing the results of digital noise. Since this unit is new, return it for an exchange indicating the problem. It should not be making this sound.

Cant Hear Dialogue Over the Background Sound

The owner's manual should have a section on how to balance the system. I don't have one at the moment, but I believe that this model also has a setup tone generator option. Look in the owner's manual or online at Yamaha for a copy of it. This will contain the instructions for the setup.

Cant Hear Dialogue Over the Background Sound

I had the same problem, first you can download the manual online to see how to reset the speakers. next, make sure you have true digital audio input with a fiber optic or like connector. you should see little LED symbols of r/l/c/w/rr/rl etc. If you just see R and L, it is not getting a true signal.

But what worked the best was getting a better, devoted, CENTER speaker, not just a speaker in the center, but one devoted to dialogue.

good luck

Center channel quit woring

The center channel amplifier in the main unit isn't working. Check the warranty. If it's still in force Yamaha will fix it free. If out of warranty, they'll give you an estimate.

Not powering on

1. The power cord is not completely insered. 2. the impedance selector switch on the rear panel is not fully set to the upper or lower end - (set it when the unit is in the standby mode) other then that, you will have to call for a service.
