Microwave turns on by itself

Manufacture date is October 2007, we got it in November 2007, so one year old.

Microwave turns on all by itself and then runs for two minutes and then the readout says "end". Have unpluged it for a long time, same results happen.

Thoughts? What gives?

You have a shorting keypad. This can be very dangerous and result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it;s not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find Magic Chef parts here.

If not, please reply back with your model number so we can help you.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

New unit used 3 days. Microwave beeps and screen goes to menu, or set time screen. Sometimes changes the date all by itself. Does this in the middle of the night all night long.

I advice you to contact service if it has guarantee. This seems to be a psychological problem about your oven(!). Technical person need to do an electronic research surgery on its board to see if there is any wrong thing.

Model 721.63259301 does not heat, everything else is ok. 5 years old, repair? Replace? Thank You Fred Liethen

My Kenmore 721.63259301 would not heat items up so I came here and saw the parts required and was just about to order them when I checked the online owners manual and found this. FULL FIVE-YEAR WARRANTY ON
THE MAGNETRON For five years from the date of purchase, if the
magnetron in this Kenmore microwave oven
fails due to a defect in material or workmanship,
Sears will repair it free of charge.
My microwave has a manufacture date of July 2009 so I will be taking it right to the closest Sears repair center for a free repair. I suggest everyone do the same.

Panasonic NN-SD277. Almost 3 years old. We pressed start, it went for about a second (may have made a sparking sound) and then it just lost all power. There is still power to microwave but no lights are...

We also have this same microwave. It is less than 3 years old. We've had nothing but problems since we purchased it. In November 2010, the microwave made a crackling sound and then BOOM! Nothing. I have been back and forth with Panasonic. I refuse to pay for the repair on an appliance that is less than 3 years old. It's ridiculous!

Anyway, the problem t is an issue with their inverters. Google it and you will find page after page of the same story.

Microwave does not heat if time is less than 1 min 30 seconds

Generally speaking, charcoal filters should be changed and grease filters should be cleaned about every six months, or whenever you notice they are getting dirty & clogged. Yours will likely have one or the other - probably not both - depending on whether it's vented or it recirculates.

A clogged filter will cause the supply of cooling air flow to be lessened, allowing the magnetron to overheat. It only takes one severe overheating to damage or destroy a magnetron.

One common way for a magnetron to fail is that its heating power is less and less, then it just stops heating.

Magnetron's will usually have a warranty of 5-9 years, but you'd still have to pay the installation labor.

You can save a $75-90 home visit by removing the oven form the wall and taking it to a local Whirlpool-authorized warranty servicer.

The date of manufacture will be on the model tag in the unit, and the warranty terms will be in the owner's manual. Many manufacturers will use the serial number and date of manufacture to validate the warranty in lieu of a sales receipt.

You can download Whirlpool owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts and accessories by entering your full model number here.

Do you know in what year the Maytag washer, model LAT8014AAE was made

The date of manufacture is determined by the SERIAL number on the appliance. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r2880528-determining_age_maytag_appliance

With Maytag, the last two letters in the serial number is the manufacture date code. The first letter is the YEAR, the second letter indicates the MONTH. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My microwave turns off when I start it

its the program bord inside your microwave playing up and to be realy honest its realy not worth paying out good money to get it fixed even if you could get the new bord,,,its better to just buy a new microwave there so cheap now you can pick them up for less than £50.00p and it would cost you all of that just for the repair man to come and look at it,,,,why do you think they all drive round in big cars?

In October 2007 I purchased a microwave oven Model # JVM1540DM2WW Serial # RM900254U. In the past week it has become overzealous. After use, instead of the vent fan turning off, it kicks into a REALLY...

This can happen when there is high heat on the stovetop (or the underside of the microwave).

Otherwise, it sounds like the fan control on your control panel is shorting or sticking.

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.
