Question about Philips DIRECTV H20 DTV Receiver

1 Answer

DTV H20-600 The receiver does have the ECO 2.0 sticker on it. I also cannot find the LM317 IC or a TIP42C transistor. Where are they located? Do you have a schematic? I powered up the receiver after it being unplugged a few days. I was able to watch the weather channel in HD for about 35minutes then I got the error 771 searching for signal. Seems like the problems is related to powering the LNB. Thank you for all your help.

Thank you for your help. I will try to locate the voltage regulator but will most likely contact DTV to get the unit replaced. I just like to fix things myself for the pure education of it.

    Thank you,
    R.

I do not have an schematic for this receiver. This receiver might not use LM317 or TIP42C but a different voltage regulator, try to locate where the 20 volts line from the power supply and follow it to anywhere near the LNB tuner circuitry. This type of IC is normally mounted on a heatsink.

Most of the time find it is not the output transistors. When you replaced them did you adjust the bias etc correctly. Do you have audio driving those transistorts? if not it may be one of the ic;s

I have a Kicker KX-200.2 amplifier and need to know what transistors belong in the Q-15 and Q-18 locations on the main circuit board.

I have a 450.2 amp and Q15 has a tip42c transistor, and Q18 is missing from my amp (the reason I have the internals exposed..), but I'm fairly confident that it's a irfz44v mosfet chip. Hope that helps.

My kenwood 107VR keeps turning off on its own, after about 3 secs it shuts off and the light blinks.

If you are sure your speakers are good. This unit has a protect circuit keeping the unit from turning on. This recevier uses an ic instead of output transistors. A ic incorperates transistors, resistors, capactors in one assembly for size and costs. There is a number right on the front of the ic ,you can go on-line to buy the ic is is fairly easy to put in as long as you can desolder and solder in.

Start up problem.

I suggest you look at the Horizontal output transistor, when it goes short the supply is in protection mode, it is pointless reading voltages at this stage, check the transistor located close to the Horizontal output (Flyback) transformer and normally mounted on a large heatsink. Check the caps in the primary power supply stage....hope that helps..Phil

Directv h20 receiver has low volyage to the lnb.

Check inside the receiver for a defective LM317 IC or a TIP42C transistor, but before that you should check for proper voltage from the power supply to that IC.
LM317/TIP42C control the switching of voltages that power up the LNB, you should be getting 14 volts for vertical channels and 18 volts for horizontal.
Good Luck.

Level But not quality

If you only get level signal on the traxis 1500, it means that you may have a defective LM317 IC or a TIP42C. This part is mounted on a heatsink.
Try checking the LNB frecuency as well and make sure you have the same settings as your Pansat.
Good Luck.

1996 Sony 32" Trinitron - Suddenly lost picture and sound

The most common problem with TV was the failure of the Horizontal Output Transistor, this will also damage 2 transistors in the power supply and a resistor in the power supply also. (From memory): Horizontal Output location # Q501, 2 power supply transistors Locations Q601, Q602, and resistor Location R607. Also solder the Horizontal drive transformer, you can find it by following the circuit board from the base of the Horizontal output. Some models used an IC instead of the 2 transistors in the powersupply, it will have six legs and check like 2 transistors. Good Luck.
