Vaio vcpf13ufx display showing generic non-pnp monitor - I re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate without the driver cd (i lost it). The device manager is showing an exclamation mark under Other Devices - Base System Device - The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). I'm not sure if this is related to the generic monitor driver. Anyone know what driver I'm supposed to install for this? I went to Sony's website and looked for a display or monitor driver and couldn't find the monitor specifically listed. I am able to select resolution up to 1600x900 with the microsoft driver, but would feel more comfortable with the correct driver. Anyone know what driver I'm supposed to install for this? thanks in advance. Rick

In that case it doesn't actually shut down , it's going into sleep mode.
First of all just head into the Start Menu / Taskbar preferences by right-clicking on the start menu and choosing Properties. In there change the drop-down for Power Button Action to Shutdown.
You could also take the long route (Control Panel \ Power Options \ Change Plan Settings \ Change Advanced Power Settings). Once you get to this dialog, browse down as shown to "Power buttons and lid". From here, you can change the options:
- Power button action - Changes the hardware power button action : put it to Shutdown.
- Start menu power button - Changes the power button on the Start Menu - put it to Shutdown.

SOURCE: I have a problem PC audio - there is no sound. On

The yellow symbol with the exclamation point means your hardware is not functioning, but you already know that as there is no sound produced.
What you need are the proper drivers for your sound card/device. These can be found on many manufactures websites in the "drivers/downloads" section.
Unfortunately because you didn't name the specific make and model of your computer, I cannot help you further. If you don't know the make/model of your computer (usually written on the front or back/underneath) You can try a program like driver genius - http://www.driver-soft.com/download.html which will automatically scan your hardware drivers and download the latest updates for you.

Where can I find the right driver to install a Viewsonic VE710b Flat Panel Monitor? I am running Windows 7, 64-bit **This connects to my VGA port, I already have 36" Samsung conntected via HDMI, and

Search Viewsonic.com. The Windows generic driver usually works. If you have a special video driver for your Samsung, it may be interfering. Multiple monitors have to be set up through your display driver. The viewsonic should be available through the device manager.

Acer S232HL driver did not install I want it instead of the Generic PNP driver. Help please

Good for you Barb, in the future be aware the for display adapters you can simply remove them and you would be prompted to re-install a driver for it at reboot.
It will by default use a generic monitor driver so you just cancel out the install and then run the setup off the CD.

Hi,
I see you are having issues with you LG monitor.
What type of video card do you have on your computer? if I may ask.
And also did the LG Monitor come with a disc to install the Monitor.
The VGA means it is using VGA a a mode or type of cable connection for the Video, what cable are you using? are you using an HDMI connection for the Monitor/LCD or is it the Blue Cable on both ends if it is the Blue Cable then that is using VGA so it will say on VGA meaning it detects the video connection from that cable.
Are you asking because this shows every time you turn the LCD monitor ON , is that correct, if that is the reason it is normal.
The question I see is incomplete? and when you? what happens?windows detected my monitor as generic non pnp monitor and when i installed the inf file for lg monitor and updated and rebound to generic non pnp monitorit says device on vga and when i

Usually the notebook manufacturer will release Drivers for Windows 7 OS in there Website. If you are using Windows XP Drivers for Windows 7 then the performance may vary.

Blurred pictures on monitor

The problem is not the monitor, it is the display adapter (Video card) of your system needs a valid Vista driver. (NVidia, ATI and Intel are the 3 largest Graphic card manufacturers) Monitor drivers are almost never needed except on some advanced large LCDs.

You said up upgraded to Vista, did you use a Vista upgrade DVD or just perform a clean installation of Vista? Have you installed Vista Chipset drivers? The chipset and Graphics drivres may not be native to Vista, you may need to install them.
