Bose 901 equalizer hookup

How do I hookup my bose series 2 equalizer to my pioneer reciever? Bose 901 Series VI Equalizer to Onkyo TX SR503 Receiver. Bose says to use Tape In/Out...didn't work. I tried your answer on the Pioneer Receiver and that didn't work either. Appreciate your help!

i just purchased a pioneer vsx-1018 receiver and cant figure out how to set up my bose 901's to it. I had it hooked up to tape 2 on my kenwood receiver but this receiver does not have one. Any assistance would surely be appreciated.

    All,
I originated this problem, and came up with a solution with help from Onyko. For my receiver, at least, the bottom line was that the output from the equalizer MUST go to 'Receiver, Tape In'! Since that is the ONLY input source from the equalizer, you must combine elsewhere. Part of my setup included the Radio Shack Audio/Video Selector box which costs $21.99...you might not need it, but in my case, I couldn't plug all components into the back of the receiver and have them go through the equalizer.

Since I have a satellite receiver, DVD player and TV, that I want to route through the equalizer, here is the way mine is set up and working:

Satellite receiver and DVD player out to Radio Shack audio/video selector

Audio/video selector out to VCR in.

    VCR video directly to TV

VCR audio red/white (audio) out to equalizer

Equalizer out to Receiver Tape IN (Receiver Out not used)

Hope this works with your setups.

    Mike

I had the same problem- I have a Pioneer VSX-518 and Bose 901 series IV. My receiver has no "Tape Monitor", so after trying different hook ups, I went and bought a "3 input video switcher" (about $10.00) I run my STB (cable box), my PS3 and my computer through the inputs of the switcher (just the audio L/R) then the output to the Bose EQ input, then from the Bose EQ output to my receiver input (I chose to use the TV/DVR input). Now I just have to select which source I want to listen to from the switch, make sure the receiver is set to TV/DVR and I have fantastic sound via my Bose 901s. With this hookup, I have my 3 componets video connected to my HDTV via HDMI cable. It works for me. Hope this helps.

How can i hook-up a 901 series vi equalizer to a str-de897?

I own 901's(since new) with the active equalizer powered with a non-Sony surround sound receiver.

Basically, you use the MD/Tape in/out jacks to route the signal to the Bose active equalizer. Switch the Tape Monitor switch if no sound is heard.

Here are some references.
https://docs.sony.com/release/STRDE897.pdf http://products.bose.com/pdf/customer_service/owners/901_guide.pdf

Connect equalizer cables (4 total) to the MD/TAPE section of your receiver. OUT from the receiver to the equalizer IN and Out from the equalizer to IN on the receiver.

One issue with the equalizer running through the MD/Tape jacks is that it may affect any other speakers hooked up to your system.

Best way to hook up Bose 901 series VI to a Harman Kardon HK3490

According to the HK site, "Stereo pre-amp outputs let you connect the receiver to an external power amplifier." So it's easy. Connect the Bose equalizer in the pre-out / amp in loop.

Harmon kardon avr 146 with Bose 901 EQ VI

Bose is a pain in the back like Apple. Everything they make is proprietary or it won\'t work. The 901 series is one of them.

`Which ampliphier is compatible for my Bose 901 series 6 with equilazer.

Ideally, an amplifier or receiver should have either a "Tape Monitor" selector switch and Tape Input & Tape Output jacks, OR have Preamp Output & Amp Input jacks to enable insertion of the Bose Active equalizer into the circuit before the amplifier stage. Power requirements - according to the 901 Series VI manual:

"Your 901 speakers are designed to work compatibly with receivers or amplifiers rated from
10 to 450 watts per channel."

If you have questions not answered by the manual, you can contact customer service at The Bose Corporation in Framingham, MASS toll free at:

I hope this helped & good luck!

Bose 901 series speakers to Bose 901 Equalizer

There is no direct connection between the 901's and their Active Equalizer. It is designed to be inserted between the source and the DEDICATED amplifier driving the speakers. Typically, this would be in a Tape Monitor loop on a receiver.

Tape Rec/Out to EQ In; EQ Out to Tape Play/In on the receiver. If you have a tape deck(s), it(they) would go into the back of the Bose EQ as if it was the receiver and you would use the Tape and 1/2 buttons for selection.

Or,if you have access to any other point that doesn't use the Tape Monitor, like a Pre Out/Main In jumper set, place the Equalizer there. That way it's always in front of the speakers and doesn't take up the Tape Mon.

Flip in the Tape Monitor and leave it on or the speakers will not receive the essential ACTIVE Equalization they require for proper frequency response. DO NOT place non-901's onto any amp using the Active EQ.

Like any speakers, the 901's will attach to the speaker terminals in the conventional manner.

Connecting the 901 series VI equalizer

hello

please make sure your receiver has a tape monitor switch on the front panel or pre-in/out sockets at the rear. only then all sources will play thru the bose equalizer. also remember if you need a 5.1 or greater setup, you will need 2 amps/receivers.

hope this helps
