I have a shure sm57. It's about 30 years old, and it's been packed away safely for about 25 years, but it does work. Recently though, it starts to feedback as soon as it's plugged in. I've tried changing the placement, volume, tone, just about everything. Could it be damaged?

Yes, it could. With age it may become less directional. It probably sounds okay but just doesn't discriminate against sounds from the rear as well. Shure will put in a new element for not too much money.
