It is going into protection mode. If you feel comfortable with directions look for the service manual and get the codes that are causing the protection error then you can find out how to fix it.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

I have a denon 1909 reciever.

The unit is going into protection mode. This means that a problem was detected and the unit shuts down to prevent further damage. Examine the speaker wires to be sure that they are not crossed. If they seem OK, remove them and attempt to turn on the unit. If the unit behaves the same, then the problem is internal to the receiver. The most common cause of this is shorted output transistors. These are relatively inexpensive. Expect a parts cost in the $30 range. Add in the local labor rate for the entire repair cost. Dan

Reciever wont stay powered on

I fear that there's no easy fix. Sounds like the power supply or the board which controls it is bad. If you're not an electronics repair person, it'll need to go to a repair shop.

Yamaha rx-v461 not working

you have a faulty circuit somewhere, whether its in speaker wiring, or power source, i dont know, but your reciever has an automatic circuit breaker in it for protection, and a faulty circuit will trip it, i would assume it is a power source problem since it wont turn back on, check wiring, plugs and look around, and smell for burnt, or hot components.

Hello janetsue, If this radio has the blue or green screen LCD face then this is a default that is built into the radio. It depends on how the radio was "converted" when it was bought new.
It will not key up on 10 or 12 because of the default. A little more info supplied would be real helpful,,,, Let me know, Mechanic
