Sounds as if it would be more likely to either be the monitor itself or the monitor cable connecting it to the computer. I would ensure the connections are tight and if so try another monitor or cable from a friends computer to identify where the problem is.

My emachines D620 is turn on but not displayin on screen

Hi Mark,

From the scant details provided, the best solution I can offer is that the back light has burned out. To verify this, turn on the monitor. Shine a bright flashlight at the screen. If you can see stuff on the screen, e.g. Desktop, boot sequence, anything else. That would confirm a problem with the back light. What most LCD monitors do is have a light behind them or along each side that make the screen shine. What normally happens is after a long time the tube burns out. if the system is only a couple of years old, then most likely the inverter that steps up the battery voltage to higher voltage to run the tube has failed. In either case, IF you can see a display with a flashlight, then you will most likely have to replace the display. You can buy a completely built one from emachines (now a gateway company) or if you have the skills, replace it yourself. I found on ebay new displays for under $100

Sadly the other thing that happens fairly often now is that the graphics chip overheats and becomes "unsoldered" in which case you will have no display when shining a flashlight at the display. You can also confirm this by trying an external monitor. If you have another monitor for a desktop or if a friend does, you can plug in the monitor and see if you get a display. You may have to tell the laptop to use the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and the display function key. The display function key will have a picture of a monitor on it. Or you can look up the correct key sequence in the user manual which can be downloaded from emachines. The external monitor will also help confirm that the built in display is the cause of the problem if you can get a display on the external monitor.

If you need more help, let me know the results of the flashlight and external monitor tests and what further help you would like.'

Thanks, Jim

I have a emachines amd athlon 64/ 512mb memory / 160gb hadr drive dessk top. when i turn it on the monitor displays no signal and goes off. ihear the prossessor motor running constantly which normally goes...

Please check the cable that connects the monitor to the video card. Reseat the cable, the issue might be a loose connection. You can also try a known good monitor to isolate if it's the video card or monitor that is causing the problem. Something is preventing the monitor from receiving signals from the video card, hence the "no signal" message.

Flat screen monitor functioning strangely

Sounds like there maybe bad caps on the power board in the LCD. Try a different monitor on your computer and if the known working monitor comes on with the computer and behaves properly then you know its a problem with your original monitor. If the known working monitor acts strange as well then you know its a problem with the video card. Let me know what happens.

Monitor does not display picture, only the mouse pointer

If you're seeing only the mouse pointer it means there is likely a problem with your hard drive. Perhaps windows has a bad file. Has anything changed recently? Any new programs? A short? a strange smell?

After installing hard drive, monitor, keyboard, mouse not working

Have you tried to enter BIOS? Are you able to enter BIOS?? There may be an option you have to hit to enable SATA, and to select the boot device order, which may be messing things up.
Also, remember that STATIC ELECTRICITY is your enemy! Ground yourself when working inside the case.

Emachines 1900+ gets power to the monitor and computer but wont boot

There could be a number of causes. Do you hear any beeps when the computer starts up? Try seating all the chips in the motherboard. That means, apply pressure to each individual chip on the motherboard with your finger or thumb. The goal is to make sure each chip is securely attached to the board. Sometimes, heat or new h/w installs partially "pop" some of the chips out of the motherboard - causing the circuitry to be disconnected...

Emachines 1900+ gets power to the monitor and computer but wont boot

Buy a dianostics card, and find out if its the RAM, CPU, OR Motherboard. (sounds like a ram or CPU problem though) if you have more than one stick of ram in the system, take one out, and power it up, if still not response, to the other stick out, and put the stick you took out the first time, and put it back in.
