Question about Toshiba 50HDX82 50" Rear Projection Television
The sound and picture quality on the set work fine. The problem is that it seems to heat up and then just shuts off randomly. If the set is on for about 2 hours then it will just turn off. If i give it a few minutes then it works fine again. I have taken off the back service panel and the unit is free of dust and dirt. Any solutions to this problem?
A common failure for shutdown in this unit is R428 and/or D408 in the 200v line. R428, due to heat, can change in value over time and eventually open. It may only be at that stage where the tolerance has changed but it will eventually open. D408 in that same line and for the same reasons tends to leak as it warms up allowing voltage both directions - thus shutdown. Might check thse and see if that's where your problem is...
