    no solution????!!!!!

Same problem. Seems that the fan is not working. Probably an overheat or blown capacitor. When it died originally, the sound faded out gracefully, indicative of that kind of problem (capacitor).

Similar problem on the HT-X20. No fading of sound but message of 'Protection' appears and it switches off, then red stand by light flashes!..

    Any solutions as of yet??

THERE IS A LITTLE RESISTOR IN MINE ON POWER BOARD CALLED SMR 60 LOOKS BLOWN WHERE DO YOU FIND A WIRING DIAGRAM FOR THIS MODEL PLEASE

My dvd player for the HT-TZ215R/XEU home cinema system will not start up and displays 'protect' before turning itself off again. After unscrewing the box (its way out of warranty anyway!) it looks like a resistor has blown. A RM03. Should I try and solder a new one back in place? And why do I keep getting bad electric shocks from the circuit board it's attached to when its not plugged in and seperate to rest of the dvd player?

The circuit diagram would not help you as it is missing on it. However I have found someone who knows.
It is a 470ohm 1/4w

I have the same problem with my Samsung TZ215.

The resistor SMR60 is blown. Can anyone provide me with details on what this resistor was? Even just the colours so I can solder a new one back in. If this works it may be a solution that can save many people time and money.

"ht-tz212 protect"

noted RM03 blown in PSU

replaced RM03 (1/4W flameproof 10 Ohm)
SMD03 shorted (replaced with RGP15J)

seems to be ok

Samsung dvd player display says "protection" . Wont turn on.

Swtch off and disconnect and reconnect all the wiring especially speaker wires.
Also try resetting as per manual.
If that doesn't work then could be capacitor blown on motherboard.

Your Laser assembly (pick up) is weak, must be replaced. I don't know what you spent for your unit but it might be worth investing in a new one.

My Samsung HT-DM550 shows "lock"

Be careful to do this with AC cable disconnected from AC outlet! If you have some experience with electronics, disconnect the wired plugs from power supply and discharge electrolitic capacitors to ground with a 330 ohm 1 watt resistor. Then reconnect the wired plugs. Be careful to do this with AC cable disconnected from AC outlet! Then connect to AC outlet and turn on the DVD player. You will see that DVD player restores to normal operation again.

How to take protect mode off HT-TZ212 samsung dvd player

The protect mode as it means is the safety cut off due to a possible error or shortin in the DVD.
You must have to identify the fault before we can conclude on the position of the fault.
So start from the power supply chek votages, if the main voltages are present. Remove leads to the DVD drive and check, if OK then the drive section is faulty. But fault can vary from the AV section to the decorder stage and to the drive.
The microprocessor control is however working as it indicates the fault.
So proceed by elimination

I have a samsung home cinema ht-tz212 keep saying protect and not working

its most likely over heated. Try removing the plug and moving it away from the tv and any heated areas for atleast a day, then try turning it on and it should work..
If it only goes into protect when you put a dvd in then change the regional code.

My HT-TX75 DVD flashes a message

First thing to do is disconnect all your speakers at the back of the receiver, then turn it back on. If it does not go into protection, post a comment and I can walk you thru troubleshooting. If it still goes into protection, your unit needs to be serviced. Hope this helps

"Protect" error - HTZ110

Home Theater System Is Displaying "Protection" spacer.gif As soon as the unit is turned on, the word "PROTECTION" will flash on the front panel of the unit and SHUT OFF. This error message usually indicates that the fan in the back of the unit is not on.

SAMSUNG HT-TZ212 home cinema kit comes up with protect

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.
