Craftsman riding mower floods after a few seconds

Briggs & Stratton 19 HP model 42E707 type 2631 E1
The choke mechanism seems to open and close properly. There was gas in the oil. I removed the carb, disassembled it and sooked it in carb cleaner over night. Blew out with compressed air the next day. reassembled using new carb and pump repair kit. New plugs, new filter, replaced oil and it starts right up but floods out. I made sure the choke was off. The filter is dripping with gas and if I let it sit a while it will do the exact same thing.

Briggs Stratton 5hp I/C starts ok, runs, but will not rev

My money is on a partial blockage of the main jet or the passageway to it. You're having to force it to run through the idle jet by fully choking the incoming air. There's not enough gas coming in with the choke open to allow it to run.

I'm thiniking total carb disassembly, carb cleaner and an air compressor combined with a ton of patience will take care of the issue.

Do you have to prime a fuel pump after it has been rebuilt

when you put a new fuel pump on whatever type mower you are working on,yes its good to prime it a little so that your not cranking the juice out of your battery and easier on starter.when you prime it ,myself I put the new fuel pump on,and I pull the plug out and put a little fuel in cylinder head so when it fires it pump the fuel up faster to your carb! good luck!

24 hp brig motor does not seem to be getting fuel

the additive in gas eth. causes fuel lines to break down and not deliver gas to the carb. replace fuel line.

check fuel pump, remove fuel line to carb. turn motor over, if fuel does not spurt out fuel line replace fuel pump.

float in carb may be stuck, remove bowl from carb. and check needle valve, if gummed up clean.

Gas icoming out of my muffler on my briggs 27 hp engine

must have trash under needle and seat and its not stopping your gas flow. you may have electric fuel shut off that's not closing it would be located under your carb. with a couple of wires going to it. check your oil level also it may be way past full

Have to choke to keep running

this is not hard to do here is what you need , 1 can of carb cleaner anykind will do , a 10 mm rench to remove the bowl 7/16 socket . now remove the carb take a good look where the spring is before you take the carb off it muct go back in the same hole , now that you have it off take the bowl off remove the float place to the side here is the fun part look in the carb you will see some small hole spray them this will clean all of the old gas out if you can let it set for about 10 min then do it again blow out with air if you have one nothing else to do but reinstall this works most of the time ...Good Luck..

Hello mtcrew:

>>According to the Sear Site, this Unit has a Briggs and Straton Model 42E707-2631-E1 Engine Powering it.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model (5 or 6 Digits) and Type Numbers (first 4 digits Only). Example: 42E707-2631. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Select Sectional Index. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View.
>>There is a Fuel Pump that is a Part of the Carburetor.
>>In the Breakdown of the Carburetor at the Site Addy I Provided the Fuel Pump Diaphragm is # 394A.
>>I Suggest you Lightly Presurize the Gas Tank and Force Gas to the Pump.
>>Sometimes the Pump has to be Primed before it will Start Pumping Properly.
>>Replace ALL the Spring Style Hose Clamps with the Screw Style Hose Clamps. The Spring Style Clamps Weaken and will Allow a Vacuum Leak to the Fuel Pump and the Pump will Not Operate Correctly.
