Close Caption I have a model 313912875581 remote for an older tv and was wondering how to turn the close caption function on . The tv set is a 27" smart plus series and the remote is the original one.

I pushed the cc button, but all that comes up on the screen is a list of items offered and no way to scroll up to the closed capton icon. The list reads:

    Closed Caption

    Caption Mode CC2

    Text Mode

There is a small square icon in front of each of these selections, but the button with the square on it is also the Surf key and the set goes into the surf mode when pushed.

Have yet to recieve any help in this matter. I tried the "CC" button before I contacted FixYa and was wondering if there is a series of buttons that need to be pushed? I have an elderly visitor coming next week and would like to get the Close Captioning fixed before they arrive.

    Thank you

if your TV remote has a button marked CC or CCD or SUBTITLE press that button til the screen display reads "closed caption on" or something similar - if you get a black box on the screen without any print in it that means that the closed caption function is on but the show that you are watching is not broadcasting a closed caption [dxh]

good luck

Press the MENU button and then use arrow-up / arrow-down button to select the
    OPTION menu.
Press the arrow-forward button and then use arrow-up / arrow-down button to select Caption/Text.
Press the arrow-forward button and then use arrow-up / arrow-down button to select caption: CC1,
    CC2CC3CC4Text1Text2Text3, or Text4.
    The term for the words that scroll across the bottom of the TV screen;
usually the audio portion of the program provided for the hearing
    • TEXT
The term for the words that appear in a large black frame and almost
cover the entire screen; usually messages provided by the broadcaster.
Press EXIT button to return to TV viewing or press MENU button to
    return to the previous menu.

Then what is "greyed-out"? Do the arrow keys allow you into the test area when you press the arrow-forward?

go to Option Menu.. There you should have three sub menus pretaining to caption, "Caption", "Caption Text" and "Caption Option". First select "Caption" and make sure that it's set to "On". Then back out of that sub menu and select "Caption Text" and set it at "CC1" You probably won't have a "Caption Option", from the "Options" menu, until you've selected "Caption" to be on.

How do I turn off closed caption

Sometimes it isn't the remote, it is the cable or satellite set up menu. Try Menu/Setup/Closed Captions and see what happens.

I cant get rid of the picture in picture box off screen with no remote controll?

It sounds that closed caption function is On with your TV. Try to access the close caption On/Off function, by its menu controls and try to set it off. Some TVs wont allow you to do this, even though there is a Menu control on its front panel. To such TVs, a remote control is a must to get rid of this.

I have an LSSQ40207 remote and can't seem to get the close caption off the screen.

It must be due to the function fault with the "CC" button on your remote control. To confirm it, just get into its "Menu" suf through and come to the "close capation" function, select it and try to disappear it by pressing the [Vol or Ch] button on your TVs panel control. If you can do this way, and can't do it with remote button, be sure that, that button on your remote control is not working. Infrared signal rays are emitting each time we press each button on the remote, and frequency of each function for this rays will be different to each other. These rays are recived at the TVs infrared sensor fitted inside and changes the fucnctions as we desire. If any defect in contact of the remote buttons to its internal circuit board, will cause a no-signal condition when we push that button. In most cases, cleaning the remote's inside board will resolve this problem. To clean it, you have to open your remote control. It can be opened by slide up its side groove with some sharp tool, like a knife, without breaking its cabin. Be very carefull not to hurt by yoursef while open it. Inside it you can see a circuit board with a few components. Clean the contact face of the circuit board with a soft cloath dipped in rectified spirit or medical quality turpentine. Allow some time to dry out. Clean the remote button's internal touch pads also. Dirt and dust are the main reason for the contact trouble. If it was due to this dirt and dust, you will get it right this way. Still you finds the fault is there, there is no other way than replace the remote control hadset with same type and nummber.

Need to know how to put the tv on close caption

Captioned programs are marked in TV listings by "CC". so press the cc button on the remote and the closed caption option will be that cc button again to turn off the closed caption option.
1) Check the size and manufactured year of your television. If it was made after 1993 and is larger than 13 inches, it has a closed captioning system built into it. Otherwise, you may need to purchase a separate closed caption system, which are available at a number of online outlets.
  1. 2)Turn on your TV and access the menu for closed captioning. The precise location of the menu varies by television set. Most are accessible by pressing the "Audio" or "Set Up" menu on your remote, then scrolling down to the "CC" or "Closed Captioning" option. Check your owner's manual for precise instructions.
  2. 3)Turn the closed captioning option to the "On" position. It will then run closed captions for every program that broadcasts them. Newer sets may allow you to adjust the size, font and colors of the closed captioning letters to fit your individual tastes.
  3. 4)Tune to a particular program for a few minutes to make sure the closed captions are working. Note that while many broadcasts run closed captioning, not all of them do. If the captions don't appear, check your TV listing to ensure the program includes them.
  4. 5)If you're watching a DVd on your TV, access the DVD's "Set Up" menu. It should have captioned options, which allow you to show captions in English and possibly other languages as well.
  5. thanks.

Closed caption / universal remote

Couple things to try:

On the remote - Press "Clear" button
May have to turn off CC in the TV menus. Try Menu on the remote and look for closed caption there.
If remote doesn't work, can try with buttons on TV itself to get into menu and turn it off.

Here's a link to the manual for that remote:
