Question about Palm Tungsten E2 Handheld

1 Answer

Hi, I have a Palm, Tungsten E. The power button doesn't work to power it up anymore. Should I repair it, buy a new one, switch technology? I sync info onto my PC and like it. I don't work, so I'm not concerned with getting my email out of my house. Thanks, Mary

How do i transfer the data from the old palm to

The Palm Desktop (installed on your computer) should have all the information that is currently on it. Make sure that you sync before moving on.

On the tungsten, there will be a version of the palm desktop (updated) for it. Just install that version, it will find your old version, and import from there. PalmDesktop 6 supports Vista, unknown how well it will work as a 32bit app being emulated in 64bit environment.

Palm won't shut off but displays the Palm shield with the note "powered by" or it displays a message that says it it trying to connect to tyhe desktop. I have pressed the reset button and it will shut off...

Here is a link to Palm support. It sounds like you need to do a hard reset. Try that by depressing the reset button on the back of your unit. You will need to use something pointed like a paperclip and insert that into the hole and hold in in while you hold down the power button. When you see the Palm powered logo let go of the power button and follow the onscreen directions.

Here is the link for Palm support in case you have any other issues.

Tungsten E

Hi : This means your battery must be as dead can be. Therefore it seems to be getting straight power only when you plug in the charger. Or your on/off button is dead. Are you able to turn it off/on when you have charge plugged. If so then I suggest getting a new battery for the E2 Palm and you should be back up and running. If this is not the case then it is your on/off button in which it could be just the contact or the switch itself. I can suggest someone in US if you like, else I can handle it but I am in AUS.
