Question about Sony KP-51WS520 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
It is likely one of two things. Either one or more of the video drive IC's had failed, OR one or more of the CRT's (picture tubes) has filed. From personal experience with this model, I hate to say this but I see more picture tubes failing than drive IC's. In fact, if a picture shorts internally, it can also take out or blow up a drive IC. Unfortunately, with the costs involved, you're probably at the point where you have to decide whether to drop a bundle on this TV or invest in a new one. I would lean towards a new TV, because of the improvements in technology that have occurred and the possibility for fure failures with your current set.
