I don't think it is dangerous but it could be water minerals that was not filtered by your filter. sediments that is in the water that have settled at the lower part of the tubing.. if you can replace the coils of tubing then it would be much better.

My water dispenser was not working. Tried the defrost trick and still no water. Noticed water under the refrigerator.

The Dispenser supply usually flows through the bottom, inside toward the back to cool the water. If the puddle is near the back. refrigerator section it's probably this water cooling arrangement. Usually. a number of the tubing loops near the back bottom edge. Connections here or tubing itself may leak. It may also be an undetected leak from the Filter housing or the filter is not properly seated or possible filter housing connections. I have had good success with paper towel detection method. Wrap
or paste, tape towel to suspect leak locations. They will soon appear and point to the apparent leak.

Two possibilities:
1. A cracked plastic tube. These will leak whenever there's a call for water - either the chilled water dispenser, or re-filling the icemaker tray (two seperate tubes). Pay particular attention to anywhere the tubes are clamped to the chassis; anywhere they're routed near or under the refrigeration unit; and near the solenoid valve - especially if there's a tight loop in the tube there.
2. A bad (leaking) connection where one of the tubes exits the water valve. Again, these will leak whenever the valve is activated.

Those plastic tubes don't last forever. I've replaced many of them for the same symptoms. They're known to simply deteriorate with age.
Manuf's make good money selling replacement tubing kits.

Depends if there is plastic tubing running inside fridge compartment. Shut off water to fridge. If that stops it you will have to look inside to see if there is visible plastic water tubing or if you can get to it from inside the fridge. Maybe the water line has a defect or got pinched and somehow split. Then turn on water, find leak and splice in a replacement section.

The water that comes out of my refrigerator tastes musty.

If you have a water dispencer on the door of the fridge, and it taste funny, it has nothing with the inside
of the fridge. You could have a dead body in it and it would not do anything to the drinking water.

There should be a filter for the water, you need to look at the manual and see where the filter is
so it can be replaced. If the unit does not have one I would put one in just before the water line
enters the unit. If the line comes up from basement, then the best place is in basement just below
unit where it goes up through floor, this way a good unit with replaceable cartridge can be used.
The larger the unit usually means more time before replacement, volume of water run through it.

If there is mold growing on the plastic water line that runs through the fridge, I would believe that after
very long periods of time that it could leach through the line. 50/50/10 Bleach and water and 10%
dish detergent. If you can clean as much of the line that you can get to with this, then it should stop this.

Does this have any kind of a drain in the bottom of this unit, let the solution of this cleaner go down
and if this flows into a tray, clean tray. You can also cover the drain, fill the area with enough of just a 50/50 water/bleach mix so that it goes over the seams at the bottom, this way say something leaked out of this area there is a chance that the mix will stop this from smelling. This would be
in the last ditch effort, because it is not recommend. You should leave a box of baking soda in each compartment fridge/freez.

Any questions please post back.

Freezer does not make ice

You need to check and see if ice maker has any water init. if not check the fill tube that goes thru the back wall for stoppage while you have it out rin the maker thru a harvest mode and listen for the sounds of the solonoid opening. If tube is full you'll need to replace the slow leaking valve a common problem. for parts call 704-819-6557

Bad water & ice cube taste

Hello redwood City
Welcome

You said,
Your Kitchenaid Superba KSRG25FKBL15 has bad tasting water and ice cubes. You replaced the copper tubing which delivers the water to the fridge and that didn't help. You replaced the copper tubing again with plastic tubing...no better. Any suggestions? Your tap water doesn't taste this bad.You bought a Kenmore french door fridge with water dispenser in the door in July 2008. The fridge has a filter. A few weeks after the fridge came the water and ice started tasting really bad, unlike any bad water taste I have ever tasted. And your tap water is fine. The bad taste appears to be random. Sometimes you get a cup full of nasty water and sometimes it tastes fine.

First you must know you have a 1 year warranty and can have them come out to fix anything, no charge. If it persists. You will have to get tough and you , MUST INSIST THEY REPLACE YOUR FRIDGE

When installing the water line these were a part of the directions!
Did you do this before connecting the water line to your fridge?
"Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and
turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is
clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the
copper tubing."

Whirlpool remedy
Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice
1.Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or
off-flavored ice? Discard the first few batches of ice.
2.Have the ice cubes been stored too long? Throw old ice
away and make a new supply.
3.Does the freezer and ice storage bin need to be cleaned?
See “Cleaning” or “Ice Maker and Storage Bin.”
4.Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped
properly? Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help
prevent odor transfer to stored food.
5.Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter
may need to be installed to remove the minerals.
6. Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or
dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration
system needs additional flushing. Run additional water
through the water dispenser to flush the water filtration
system more thoroughly (at least 2 to 3 gal. [8 to 12 L] or 6 to
7 minutes initially). Discard discolored ice.

Let me know what works,
Thank You ,
HUUUM!!
