Question about Pioneer PRO-710HD 64" Rear Projection Television

Pioneer PRO-710HD loosing power and now showing scrambled image

Dear Bob,

I had the same problem with TV popping and powering off, but I kept powering it back on, because I only read your article today.

Now, the TV powers back on and shows scrambled video with some sort of horizontal lines. It does not even show what input it is on.

Do you think this can be fixed by re-soldering? Or at this point that solution no longer works?

If you think you have a solution, how much do you think it would cost?

Thanks,

PS: This TV HD image was the best. Anyone would buy it as is?

See other solutions to the intermittencies. I think your set can still be remedied by the resoldering op, especially since it still powers on successfully and stays on. I had one where the screen would stay blank while the set powered up sucessfully and stayed on, and the resoldering op resolved that problem. His set is working fine now.

Contact me for instros on how and where to send me your board.

Hello how do i set the convergence manualy on a pioneer elite pro-710hd projection tv i dont have the remote and dont know how to bring the menue up on the tv

You MUST have the remote to perform service operations on the Elites. Look on ebay or do a google search for Pioneer 710 remote.
There is no way to manually do convergence without a remote, and no way to call up the convergence menu.

Pioneer elite tv turns off from a pop sound and manual says-will

It is most likely the power supply. Do not try to fix this yourself. There are LETHAL voltages inside such a TV, which can persist for WEEKS after it has been turned off.

Pioneer 710 hd power/not turning on 10/12/08

When the set goes into protection BANG like that, without any intermittencies, usually the convergence ICs have gone out and need replacing. I recommend using the STK 392-180s, which are the stronger upgrade to the 392-110s used originally. You'll need 2.

no reset sequence. usually when the protection kicks in without any warning, it's the convergence ICs needing replacement.

Flicker in HD and DVD

The intermittencies you mention are common on this
series. The PS - power supply - board needs a
virtually complete resolder op, as the solder used in
that run of units was weak and thin. It will not get
better on its own, any more than needed dental work
will.

Send it to me and I will resolder it and send it back.
I have done so on a number of PS boards in this series,
and am running at 100% success on saving the
510/610/710 series of Pioneer Elites when all they need
is the resoldering op. There is a procedure to follow,
so contact me directly.
