I got a laptop from my sister and she cant remember the password to it. I have downloaded windows xp recovery but idont know how to operate it when i install the disc. what do i do from there

Turn the laptop off then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly. When you see the option of SAFE MODE select it. Let the computer boot all the way up to safe mode and when successful you will see the login user accounts for Administrator and the one which you sister forgot the password. Select the Administrator account and pray that she did not password protect it and forgot it also. If you successfully get into windows with the Administrator account do the following. Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts. When the user accounts come up select your sister's user account then look for the option to Remove the Password. Remove the password then reboot your laptop.

I have had a simillar problem.
What to do:

1) go to control panel

3) uninstall windows media player and all of the players updates (if any)
4) go to microsoft's site for windows media player
www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/

How do you repair the program without a back up

Try to start in Safe Mode.

If you can, try to do a restore

If you can't, and you can't get on as Administraator, you may be looking at reloading the original software ... which was probably delivered to you on the computer :-(

Perhaps you can purchase a restore disk from Acer ...

Please visit www.acer.com/support look for your model and see what you can see.

I'm sorry I don't have better word for you ... This is the course of action I would take were I in your position.

You may get a beter answer from another poster here. Wait a while before you do anything serious.

Go hug your sister, she is still a nice girl.

Window not start successfully

This issue is related to some program that was installed on your computer or some hardware issue.
On the black screen select SAFE MODE

Then check there the possible issues.
Uninstall the last program
Be sure the computer is not virus or spyware infected.

Then restart on normal mode.

If the problem still there, you will have to

insert your windows XP CD and run a recovery console to fix that.
During the installation select (R)
