Often this happens because the AC soket in the laptop has a broken contact.

In this case the tehnician access the motherboard and resolder the on board contacts.

This is not a job for beginner, requires taking apart teh laptop completely, taking out the motherboard, and doing a precision soldering on the motherboard.

Ask a quote for the repair at a local repair shop, or call Dell and ask the cost of a Warranty extension that will cover factory repair, usually is cheaper than the repair job.

My Inspiron 6000 won't charge the battery.

According to your problem, this may occurs for either the battery of your laptop or the charger is faulty. First check electric outlet where you have plugged your laptop charger is OK. Then check the power cord. If everything OK then you have to change the battery.

Dell Inspiron 6000 won't charge

Since you have already replaced the battery and the laptop works with the AC charger, then probably the charge circuit in the system board (mother board) is bad. I have rarely seen an AC charger that will power the laptop but not charge the battery. 99% of the time, if it is not the battery, it is the system board.

New battery will not charge on inspiration 6000 works fine when plugged in?

a hundred to 1 your chrger is ****. Though it will still keep it powered doesnt have enough connection to give it a full charge. I had this same laptop and with the same problem. go to ebay and buy a new charger for 15 bucks and your problem is solved. In the future always try the charger first ...they are always cheaper than a new battery!

Either battery is not taking charge or battery charger is not charging the battery. You can take to a local PC repair center and have the battery tested. If it is battery, you can find OEM replacements online from companies that do nothing but batteries and typically beat manufacturer part prices.

Battery alarm flashing orange on dell dell inspiron 6000

flashing because it is very low.
If you charge-it and still flashing it seems to have o problem with battery, charger or even the laptop. Try to test the charger and laptop with another battery and see where is the problem.

My dell inspiron 6000 wont charge but i dont think the battery is the problem. The powerlead also still has its light on so must be still working. Any suggestions?

Could you check the output voltage of charger with multimeter? If you find output voltage then your charger is OK, Might be some problem with charging cirucit diagram of the laptop. If no output then replace your charger with new one having same specification.

Just remember to take your time and don't get nervous working on the computer. Please report back to the thread the results of your work.

Labtop not charging

Try removing the battery and see if the laptop powers on. If it still doesn’t power on then either the motherboard is defective or the AC adaptor may have a broken wire in the cable.
