Question about Toshiba 27A62 27" TV

1 Answer

Toshiba 27A62 My Toshiba 27a62 will not cut on. It makes this clicking noise like it is trying to cut on,but never does. The TV is only 3yrs old. It order for it to work we have to unplug it for a couple of days, and then hopefully it'll cut on. What could be the cause of this? Is it something I can do myself? How much would it cost to have an expert work on it? Thanks

Re: Toshiba 27A62

I do not know, but several people have said that Toshiba TVs make a clicking noise on switch on, this could be a relay, and not arcing. A power up circuit operates the relay. So two things could be going wrong. 1) The power up circuit input voltage is too low or weak to fully operate the relay, so the contacts do not close. Probably a faulty electrolytic capacitor. 2) The relay has bad contacts. Relays have become so miniature that you will probably find it is only slightly larger than an integrated circuit, and soldered on the circuit board. The long rest may allow a bad connection to oxidise due to dampness, and so conduct more, or allow a capacitor to recover some lost capacitance. If you know these parts of the circuit, you need a normal digital meter and a capacitance meter.

My TV keeps switching its self off, it makes a clicking noise as if its trying to switch on. Then cuts out.

Do to the clicking noise your tv makes is a very common idicator that your power supply in the tv is failing. Its an easy fix lots of DIY videos on youtube but may cost you a arm.

My tv keeps saying stand bye and it won't cut on all its doing is making the click noise and the red light keep blinking

Try unplugging it for 30 seconds and see if it resets. If not, take the model # and get on the internet for the manual and go to trouble shooting page. It should answer your questions

My idiot roommate cut my power cord in two and tried to pull it out of the back of the TV. Can I just replace the cord outright? If so, how do I remove the old cord. It won't come free from the TV. dj

You can probably replace the cord outright , but to do that you will have to take the tv apart and also purchase a new cord. If you still have the original cord that got cut, you can just splice it using **** connectors and it will be easier and cheaper. If you do take that route, just make sure you splice the same colors together, and use some electrical tape to re-insulate the cord. Hopefully this helped.

I have a tXK4676 and it has started making a clicking sound at the rear of the tv. When this happens the screen will momentarily blink and the sound cuts off and on. Is the screen trying to go out? Or is...

it sounds like the power supply clicking in the back, usually where the vents slits are. this is can lead to the TV not powering up in the future. the noise can be a bit loud at times i imaging. this might sound a bit weird, but have you tried just giving the TV a whack when the noise starts. a wire or adapter could be a bit loose and sometimes all the need is just a bit of vibration to get back into a usable place

2 tv's when I try to cut them on they make a clicking noise

The TV is on protect mode. The clicking sound is the protection switch that keep turning the TV off to prevent further damage, this happens when a fault had been detected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

If you want to DIY you find parts here, a common fault is PSU, but part must be tested before replacement.

Toshiba tv making crackling noises

Is the sound coming from the speakers or from inside the tv, like an electrical arc? It could be the high voltage wire going to the picture tube. Do not attempt to test this yourself as there is many thousands of volts on that wire even when the tv is turned off. That wire attracts dirt that may be causing it to arc.

Ghosting and popping noises

slag, Has the cable signal been branched off to another TV (or more) from the same feed? Ghosting and shadows are usually the result of bad impedance matches on those lines. Try connecting the prime TV directly to the cable box (or cable jack) output and note if there is any improvement. Make sure the cable itself is of the RG-6 type (not RG-59) and has no sharp bends or kinks. The center pin of the cable should be clean without corrosion. The RF IN jack on the TV should be checked to make sure the threads for the connector are clean and the plug should be attached firmly but not too tight. These steps should help solve this at least assuming the cable signal is good. [Checking it shows the "level" coming off the pole, not necessarily the quality of that level.] Hope this helps.
