You need to uninstall the software and delete the printer through the Start>Printers and Faxes window. (Right click on the printer and select Delete.)

Disconnect the usb cable from the printer and reboot your computer.

Begin from the beginning and only connect the usb cable when prompted by the software.

How do i speed up a 2844 printer. It was printing fine until we had to change computers. After the computer change it prints slower. We have reloaded the driver etc to no avail.

The print speed is controlled from the printer driver usually. Even though you have reloaded it, the default speed is probably lower now that what was set on the other computer. You didn't mention if you made any changes to the driver after reloading so check the speed setting.

If by slower, you mean there is more time between when you hit print and when the label actually prints, then that is more related to communications.

Hope that helps !

My printer won't print documents from the computer

I would reinstall the printer. Reload the drivers and see if the pc now recognises the printer.
Heres the latest driver version:

Just select the operating system then the driver or driver/software combination.
Hopes this solves your problem.

Only prints on restart

I don't completely understand your description.
On any printer problem, I always delete and reload the driver first.
I've spent hours only to find out there was a glitch in the original install.
A fast, simple thing to do, might be to share the driver off another computer and print through it.
Are you using the remote login when you are trying to print?
If so, the print driver has to be loaded on the server as well as on your computer. And you have to be enabled in the printers group with premission to print.

AL1641 CS won't make two sided copies anymore

Sounds like a driver or configuration problem, 1st) Make sure when you are printing, to go to Properties, you must choose 2-sided printing each time on that model, some programs won't allow you to change your printers settings.
2nd) go to control panel/ printers/ Al-1641, right click, properties, In the first tab General it should say at the bottom (Double sided - Yes) If not you need to delete the driver, a fairly common problem, and reload the driver, get the driver from Sharps website to be sure you have the most current driver, if a driver is corrupt it won't tell you there is a problem, make sure it allows you to print two sided.
