Either the cooling fan is dead or it has been strucked. Due to this, the internal temperature of the set rises and so this message. Check and replace the cooling fan/s at the top rear side of the set. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. The first thing that comes to mind is that the brightness and contrast or turned all the way down. See if you can't turn them up. Otherwise it may be the backlight inverter or backlight itself. Most likely the inverter, sometimes you can tell by looking really close to the screen, if you can still see a faint image then the inverter needs to be replaced. Probably a job for a technician but that depends how comfortable you feel opening up the TV and ordering parts online.
If you have a flashing red light, try this first: The flashing red light is, according to the Hitachi service manual, an indication of exactly one problem. It is that the fan (internal, blows air over the power supply heat sinks) has failed. In my case, it failed by continuing to spin (very confusing), but put out a signal (3V on the white wire of the fan harness) that it has failed (I had to look up the data sheet on the fan to figure this out). A new fan from Arrow $10 fixed the problem. If you suspect your fan, spinning or not, you can safely short the white to the black wire to see if your TV remains on after being turned on (solid red light), and then try turning your TV on (blue light) to see if it works.
After i replace the lamp on my Hitachi50v500a worked everything then i turn it off. After 1h wanted to turn it on again and it shows (TEMP) light is that a lamp fan or something else. Please help how to fix it by my self.Coz no money to call the tech.
this set has more then one fan; one fan will run all the time to cool the digital circuit board---if it is the actual LAMP fan then you have a problem---the digital fan is very small and not located near the lamp.
if the frequency of the sound changes more likekly you have a bad color wheel, if a certified service center is working whit it, call hitachi costumer service problably they will pay forr the light engine(where the color wheel is located)
This problem can be a number of things. First I would say, check to see if Fan Exhaust on back is blocked. It must be atleast a 2 inch min. If this is ok then, There are a few parts inside you could change starting with I-901 and C-958. For more info you can visit ctechnicians.com
The fans run for an additional minute or two after the set is turned off.
If the fan runs longer than that, then, either the 12 volt relay is stuck or the transistor that controls that relay is shorted.
