Changing battery/radio code

I put in the radio code after changing my battery on a 2008 Honda. Radio works but the information doesn't appear, ie station, musician. etc. Spoke to a guy in parts and he tells me it needs to be done outside not in my garage, followed instructions, still doesn't give info. Thanks!

Cycle through the various menus...I think there's a choice you have to enable to get the station info to show. The station freq should, though, like 104.5 on the fm band. Make sure you've selected a broadcast station and not aux input, for example.

SOURCE: 2006 honda accord, after changing the battery.

Unless the Accord was jump started, creating possible power surge to damage radio, it should not of had any relationship to the radio.

But, just in case, would suggest disconnecting battery for 5 minutes, reconnecting battery, reentering radio code and see what happens.

If that fails, hopefully your under 36k miles or got the Factory extended warranty "Honda Care" Service plan, so take to the Honda Dealership to see what they say.

  1. check under the cap of the fuse box under the hood. dealers sometimes write in there to help customers reset their radio.

you will have to check your glovebox for manualy, there is also a card with the radio code, if you cant find it then the radio has to be removed to get serail # and then call the dealer; they will give you the code.

Changed car battery and radio-code will not work to get radio back on. It's worked in the past. Any suggestions?

Hi Diane:
You will need to visit the Honda dealer to obtain it; the radio unlock code is unique for each VIN vehicle, so no one can be offered via Internet.

Simply present the vehicle's VIN to get it; sometimes you have to make any payment to the dealer to request this information.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

If I replace my own battery in a 2006 Honda Accord. Is there any programming that gets lost and needs to be redone?

Get a memory saver from walmart for a few dollars or so. It plugs into the cigarette lighter and will prevent memory loss from changing the battery which will otherwise erase the radio codes and render the radio disabled for anti-theft reasons.

If your battery does die, and goes below a certain voltage, then go to the honda.com website and look under the 'owner's' section and follow the procedure for entering the radio code after you have supplied the website with the information from the owner of the vehicle.

Good luck on changing your battery without losing electronic device memory.
