I. Have a panasonic DVD recorder with Freesat HD tuners built in. After a power down at the house the recorder shows F5 108 on the display and the TV screen shows NoDignal. Does anyone have any suggestions...

I had the same problem. The display is simply showing that the unit is tuned to Freesat channel 108. I connected a SCART cable (rather than HDMI) and was able to get an output. I am planning to try a replacement HDMI cable as the video quality is obviously much better than with SCART. I hope this proves to be the problem rather than there being a bigger issue with the box itself. I hope this helps...

How do i connect my samsung dvd recorder sh853m to my free sat box? Also is it possible to record a channel from free sat onto my samsung recorder while also watching a different free sat channel.

Hi,

If it's a Standard-Definition (SD) FreeSat box then a SCART cable would be the normal method of connection to your DVD recorder. This would connect to the SCART/EXT OUT socket on the back of the FreeSat box and the SCART/EXT IN on the DVD recorder. However, this depends on whether your FreeSat box has multiple SCART outputs and whether you are using a SCART cable to connect to the TV.

If there is no spare SCART output socket on the FreeSat box, then you need to use an alternative connection which is common to both devices, i.e. co-axial, and make sure you are connecting from an OUT socket on the FreeSat box to an IN socket on the DVD recorder.

If you have a FreeSat HD box, then you need to connect it to the DVD recorder using an HDMI cable or another cable type that will carry an HD signal.

You will only be able to record from a different Satellite channel if you have a Dual LNB with 2 feeds to the FreeSat box. The LNB is the receiver that attaches to the arm on the satellite dish. You can determine whether you have a Dual LNB as you will have 2 cables from the Dish to the FreeSat box. They may be joined as one cable, but there will be 2 F-plugs (threaded co-axial plug) on each end.

If you don't have 2 cables then you will only be able to record the same channel as you are watching. To record another channel, you need a FreeSat box that supports this feature and each channel needs also a separate feed from the dish.

Hope this helps. If you need any further assistance please post back with the brand model number of your FreeSat box and details of the connections you are using between the FreeSat box, the TV and the DVD recorder.

Regards,
BElectric

I am about to receive an LG32LF4700 Freesat/HD TV If I disconnect the SKY Box and connect the TV direct to the Dish cable will I receive Freesat HD channels. Also can I connect an extra bedroom TV into the...

Yes you can split the signal out from the back of the Freesat/HD (not the TV)to the second TV.
Look what outputs are on the Freesat box - the RF (standard cable) output should go to the 2nd TV (TV set to CH3) and the a/v cables,HDMI or DVI cable should go to the new TV - Note:To receive HD the output from the Freesat should be either HDMI,DVI or Composite output (RGB video jacks) with red White for audio. If you have HDMI this is best - it also provides audio.

HDMI to DVI adaptors do not always support audio. You have to run seperate audio into the TV.

How to Hook up HDMI from Comcast Motarola Cable Box

Connect the HDMI outputs on your various components to the HDMI inputs on your receiver. Connect the HDMI output on the receiver to the input on your TV. HDMI incorporates digital audio, so no need to buy optical audio cables. If your receiver does not have HDMI inputs for all your components, you will need to make a choice. HDMI = Best, component video + optical audio = second best, S-video+ optical audio = third best

Hello

by befault your dvd recorder is transmiting signals via component video, so what you need to do is this connect both cable HDMI and Component or just a video cable then go into setup and then select video out via HDMI your video will go off on the screen and then with TV remote slect input source HDMI on TV and it should work fine.

Thankyou

Normal Picture Mode Not Available With Cox HD-DVR (Motorola DCH3416) and HDMI Cable

With an HDMI cable connected, the cable box determines the picture size. The settings on the cable box must be changed in order for you to get the correct picture size. I have some experience with Motorola cable boxes; usually to access the settings you turn the box OFF and then press the menu or settings button on the box to bring up the display menu. Hope this helps!

Green Screen

Sounds like to me it is a connection problem with either the cables like component input or HDMI. Also you could have a problem with a fractured solder connection either on HDMI or component inputs. Also make sure Green connection on component cable, if you are using it like that is good. Usually if it is and you only hookup green on component input you will get at least a black and white picture only. Let me know if this info helped you or not. Thank you in advance. Jay
