With the phone switched off.
1. Press the joystick upward and hold down the power button at the same time (for about 5 seconds). 2. To the question "Reset to defaulft.." press the left softkey to answer "Yes". 3. The phone will now reset.
With the phone switched on.
1. Press "Start" (left softkey). 2. Highlight "Accessories" and press the Navi key (press the joystick). 3. Highlight "Default Settings" and press the Navi key (press the joystick). 4. Enter the password "1234" and press "OK" (left softkey). 5. Answer "Yes" (press left softkey) to the question, "Do you want to restore now?". 6. The phone will now restart and reset.

To perform a hard-reset on your O2 Xda Atom,
Keep pressed the POWER key, and then perform soft reset. After the device this leave everything and confirm that you want to hard-reset as shown on the screen.
To perform a hard reset 1.Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and the Right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom center part of your device.
2.Release the stylus, but continue pressing the two soft key buttons. Release them only when you see the following message on your device screen: "Press SEND to restore factory default, press END to quit."
3.Press on your device.
On my XDA the reset button is located on the left bottom side of the XDA.
To do a hard reset.
Press both soft keys and insert stylus into soft reset button and press.
Release the soft reset button and keep pressing the soft keys.
When the "This operation will delete all your personal data, to manufacturer default" appears on screen.
Press Green call button to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
To perform a hard reset, use the stylus while pressing into the reset
hole, press the power on/off button at the same time. Screen will
prompt you to press the Green call and Red end call button together to
confirm on hard resetting the device. Hard resetting the device will
cause the device to be reset back to its original factory default
settings and all data will be lost.
This is the suggestion they provide on O2 website for such problems:
Perform a soft reset (PDA phone) or re-boot the device (Smartphone) and test again.
Perform a hard reset (PDA phone) or return to default settings (Smartphone) and test again. (read below before dong this)
Check that the application still fails to execute after you upgraded the ROM (OS) to the latest revision. If you haven't upgraded your ROM (OS) do so now and check again.
But before doing the hard reset, I suggest you try installing other camera software for windows mobile 5 and check if the camera still working (not a hardware problem). If its still fail, try the hard reset after backing up all you data.
