Question about IBM ThinkPad T40 2373 Notebook
Got it today on my T40. Ran diagnostics after machine stopped working. Disk-read error ctrl alt del to reboot it said. Of course my backup is obsolete, and all my family photos and stuff will be gone.
Is there anu utility or something that can fix the problem?
Back in the old days when I worked with computers, we har Norton utility, that could fix allmost any hw-problem, but now I'm stuck.....
It could be either a faulty contact (unscrew the screw and try to re-seat the harddrive) or a one or more cluster errors on your harddrive. In that case, remove the harddrive, get yourself a 40-pin IDE-to-USB-converter like this one http://www.netshop.no/aspx/produkt/prdinfovnet.aspx?plid=103475.
This one will do the trick with support for S ATA, IDE (40pin 2.5") and IDE (44pin 3.5").
Then just connect it to another computer and save the files and photos you need into that computer.
