Is there more than one memory slot on a toshiba 4080 xcdt?

I'm trying to upgrade the memory and have been told I could max it out at 192mb. Is this right and if so how? Is there more than on slot for memory?

Check your manual on the maximum amount of memory your motherboard can handle. 192mb is rather very small. check online for your computers specs.

Memory Upgrade problem

You have the correct memory, however, did you replace memory in both available slots with same capacity/clockspeed sticks? The below is from the Spec sheet for your computer.

512MB(min)/2048MB (max), 2 memory slots using 256MB, 512MB, 1024MB or 2048MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz SDRAM,
dualchannel support requires two memory modules of same capacity and clockspeed

Update 4090 xcdt

Yes, you can upgrade from Win98 to WinXP. The minimum hard drive requirements for WinXP is 1.5GB and the minimum RAM requirement is 64MB. You will also need a CD ROM for the install. Now those are the minimum requirements so don't expect it to go very fast. If possible I would recommend you upgrade to Win2000. WinXP and Win2000 are almost identical. The minimum hard drive for Win2000 is 650MB and for RAM it is 64MB. So you could still use your 4GB hard drive and have plenty of room. You will need a CD ROM for the Win2000 also.
Good luck if you have anymore questons let me know,

Memory upgrade

The M45-S169 only has one available memory slot.
(I'm confused about your post that states "M45-S265" in the head line).

  • Configured with 512MB DDR SDRAM (both memory slots may be occupied)
  • 512MB(min)/2048MB (max), 256MB on-board memory with 1 available memory slot for 256MB, 512MB, or 1024MB PC2700 DDR 333MHz SDRAM 2.5V SODIMM memory modules
You can find the complete specifications here.
