The reason why it is moving across is that it is trying to find the home position, if you can look inside your printer and see if you can find ny abnormality, then from there it might help you find out what is wrong

The needle hits the base plate of the zipper foot, it works fine on the right side but not on the left, am I able to move the needle shaft across somehow

Depends on your machine. Some machines have the ability to move the needle right and left. Your owner's manual should show how to do that.

The print cartridge carriage is stalled on HP PSC 1610 All-in-one Printer. Carriage won't go all the way to the right because of a small toggle pin.

If you are tec guy. Open flat bed assm.. check the movement of carriage assm manually, see the obstruction, check service station.ensure that carriage should move freely..close it & check...

The ink carriage is stuck on the right side of the printer & won't move. There is nothing stuck in the printer to keep it from moving.

This is Neo , remove ink carriage and turn off the printer . Try to move it manually , do it softly . Turn on the printer and add the ink carriage .

The cartridges do not move when I open the top

Wait a few more seconds.

Do you hear any noise (spinning motors) when you open the lid?
If not, then either the motors are dead, or the sensor that reports "lid-open" is not working.
If you do hear noise, but nothing moves, then the cable that pulls the print-mechanism across has broken. It's impossible to replace that cable -- buy a new printer.

Can't cancel a HP PSC 750 Printer print job.

Right click on MyComputer and click Manage. Then go to Services and Applications and then Services. Find the Print Spooler services in the list and right click to stop it. When it is stopped try to cancel the document again. Then start the print spooler service again.

HP PSC 1400 all in one:I can not change the print cartridge because it does not come in the center after the front cover is opened. Also the check paper light is blinking and is not accepting any paper.

i have had this problem with some of our old epson printers.
How i get round it, is to start the head cleanning mode on the printer and when the gead moves i quickly unplug the printer. if i am quick enougth i can then move the print head across manually.
Not ideal i know but it does work.

The scanning devise (the light under the glass) will not go all the way across

it is only out of alignment so it is better to have it serviced than disposing it off .

sounds like print head is not engaging home switch or sensor. open the printer and look for any such switch to sense print head at home position.
