Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

SAMSUNG ML1740 laser printer now will deliver only a few printed pages (6-8) and then seems to 'get hot' and will not print. After a 'cooling off period, it will produce another 6-8 pages. Any ideas?

    This product has been a good performer for 2 or more years. Are there any suggestions for user care/cleaning/maintenance? I'd really like to get a little more 'mileage' out of this lightly used accessory.

    I HAVE DECIDED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER PRINTER. YOUR SUGGESTIONS MIGHT HAVE BEEN HELPFUL TO SOME SUBSCRIBERS; HOWEVER I HAD ALREADY TRIED RESEATING THE TONER CARTRIDGE ASSY. SEVERAL TIMES, AND MADE SURE COOLING AIR WAS AVAILABLE. PLEASE REFUND THE FEE. THANK YOU.

The printer has a built-in sensor that monitors the temperature of the print head. When the print head begins to get too hot, the printer may pause or slow down the speed of the print head unit to ensure that the print head does not overheat. If the print head begins to overheat, the thermistor will stop the print head completely until it has cooled down. Once the print head has sufficiently cooled down, the printer will resume the print job. Why it overheats can be due to a wide variety of reasons including dust etc., The best think you can do is to just get a tech to service it and it will be fine.. Shouldn't cost you more than 50-75$

Try uninstalling and reinstalling it again. also use MS office to print documents. printer should place and cool place or dont place any things near on the printer.

HI,
The problem can be caused due to two components . 1 The Toner Drum or the fuser unit.
Reseat the Toner drum and check.

    Print quality problems can be resolved by following the checklist

    below.

    • Redistribute toner in the toner cartridge (see page 5.3).

    • Clean the inside of the printer (see page 5.5).

    • Adjust the print resolution from the printer properties (see

    page 4.16).

    • Ensure that Toner Save Mode is off (see page 4.8).

    • Clear general printing problems (see page 6.3).

    • Install a new toner cartridge, and check the print quality (see

    page 2.4).

try adjust the toner aditiute by going in to the printer properties. adjust to 3 if posible and do a test print. If the print out is still faint. try update the firmware of your printer by going to www.samsung.com

I try to print and the printer just prints the first of several pages and the online/error red led comes on.


Try to pull the paper tray out and clean the feed roller inside with alcohol or water.Usually,paper dust on the feed roller causing it to slip during paper feed and printer jams.

Not printing


sometimes that just happens randomly and starts working the next day. if it doesnt work one or two days later, fumble with the printer settings a little.

Paper comes out complete black


try another toner cartridge - - particularily if it is a remanufactured unit you are currently using.

Dirty printing


The cause of this is a faulty toner cartridge. What happened was some toner spilled out of the cartridge and down into your printer. Take the toner cartridge out and with a damp paper towel just goto town and wipe everything down.

Replace the toner cartridge, and in about 20 pages it should clear up.
