ethernet from the router to the computer.....open browser...goto address bar type in 192.168.0.1 a pop down login appears login/user= admin password= password. now you are in the config page of the netgear. look for wireless settings tab and click it. scroll down towards the bottom and you will see a code in key1 ( the bubble should be filled in green). that is your encryption code right there in key1. also the maybe something typed in the PassPhrase box, which i would also right that down. once you have written it down close out of the browser, and remove the ethernet cable. now its time to view available wireless conncetions. so try to use the key 1 code first, you should be good to go ....if the key 1 doesnt work try the passphrase.
For that you have to reset password first. Press reset button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router. Then connect your router to computer with ethernet cable. Then you can access it with following link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 type user name as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password" Then you can see configuration page. Try this password before reset. Let me know if you need more assistanse. Thanks.

*the speed stream (SS) page would open
*on the left hand side .. click on the login ....it will ask u ..ur user name and the password ..
the user name would be the email address provided to u by the company from where u got the connection...type that in and press connect ...
*there is one other way as well ...on the left hand side click on the advanced ..then click on the connection configuration...it may ask u about the MODEM ACCESS CODE...if it ask u abt that then flip the modem upside down and there would be probally a yellow colour sticker and on that sticker there would be a ten digit code .. type that in and click continue ...

Make sure you have set the MTU right in the modem, if this is set wrong it will stop you accessing certain website especially secure websites i.e online banks & possibly windows update. Most providers use MTU 1458, aol used to user 1400 now recommend 1450.
you should be able to access your modem in your web browser using 10.1.1.1 as the address . if u haven't changed the password and user name they should both be admin. once in the settings change from static IP to dynamic ip this should solve your connection problems
I have just set up 4200 with dsl - you may find that you need to reset modem before you can configure. I was told that you need either a grey or yellow cable from your laptop to the modem. I use 10.0.0.138 to access modem. The 4200 I have was from a bigpond a/c - originally configured accordingly. Regards, Richard
As you are using speed stream 4100 modem and it has a5 lights, if u have a 1 solid light for power and other all the 4 lights are flashing, It indicates either u need to upgrade the firware of modem or you may try Hard reset option of modem..At the rear sode of modem you will have a reset hole / button, u may press that using some paper clip...unplu all the cables and wait for 2 mins...connect them back in..all the lights will come up but the internet..u need to check IP address by doing IPCONFIG, whatever gateway u r getting (probably 192.168.1.1) type that into adressbar of IE and putthe correct user name and password, asked code u may get from the bottom side of ur modem...get into GUI og modem and put your complete email address and password, save settings ...Ok and restart the modem...it will be ready to go.
log into modem using 192.168.2.1 in your browser and go to modem utility through browser.
then select last option on left of utility screen on left and choose reset.
this will reset modem to factory settings.
then call microsoft support there is a toll free support number in yellowpages.ca. ask them to help you setup pppoe connection in the xbox. you can set the mtu setting there also to 1492 for dsl broadband and if on cable use 1500
